Tattoos on older women

No I don’t regret mine. I forget I have them. There is only one that is visible in the summer, if you look close enough.

mernice How your post about not finding your people an GN , resonates with me. I think I may have come close …not close enough. I find parts of GN interesting , but parts only. I have always wanted a small tattoo…perhaps it’s time to get one.

I've always loved tattoos, maybe it's because my 2 favourite uncles had them, 1 merchant seaman and the other a Royal Naval man. It's a good job I do like them because all 4 of my kids have them to varying degrees. I never let them have them till they were old enough to understand the implications of them though. Personally I have none as I don't like needles but I nearly got a little one of a hedgehog at one point, trouble was I had to have rather a lot of Dutch courage and at that point I couldn't explain to the tattooist what a hedgehog was in Turkish, nor could I draw one well enough to recognise.

On a medical note .. I had semi permanent eye brows @lashes 15yrs + and had t have upper chest x-ray .. within seconds f moving thru machine, my eyes started twitching …
Radiologist noticed and stopped scan ..
There were iron filaments in the dye used for eyebrows .. had never been cautioned before and neither had GP who ordered the MRI - this wax circa
2005
Last wk had pelvis MRI @ private hosp and was told my silver Tiffany band ok 😡 but machine made ring/finger vibrate for 20 mins 🙁
Was soo anxious but Team Lead sad 1 ring ok??? This is not ok to me ..

Well I’m not a regular on here but from today’s discussion I don’t think I found my people. I have one small tattoo on the inside of my wrist. I do yoga and it’s a beautiful little ‘om’ symbol. It’s one of those discussions that can’t be a discussion you either like them or you don’t or just neutral about them?
Perhaps a read of the book ‘Let Them” would be a good discussion.
I haven't found my people on here either but you have now made me want a little Om tattoo to accompany my yoga practice. I am truly tempted.“

Well according to some of you guys, I’m going to be hideous, rough, common and look revolting. 🤣🤘🤘I’m planning on having my first ever tattoo in October. I’m 67. I have androgynous alopecia, I have a bald tea plate size spot on the scalp. From the back I have been mistaken several times for a man. It makes me feel really self conscious and miserable. I wear hats and have hair pieces but obviously in this hot weather can’t wear them. I thought about it long and hard and have chosen a feminine black shaded rose to have tattooed on the bald bit!
I personally find well designed tattoos beautiful and always complement the people wearing them. I often have an urge to stroke them.🤣 my moto is ‘do no harm’ I wouldn’t dream of being so nastily judgemental about peoples choices. Everyone is allowed their own opinion but please try and keep the harshness and rude comments to yourself, it comes across as bullying and hurtful. By the way if it goes well, I also have a receding hairline line and am researching tattoos to have there!

I really hope it works out as well as you plan and if other people don’t like it, that’s their problem, not yours !

If I can see them, I don't like tgem. Often wonder about how many with tatoos on visible areas would be happy to just accept scaring, marks through injury and not expect any attempt to be repaired on NHS.

Omg all the negative comments about tattoos! I got my first a little bluebird on my shoulder when I was 25, it wasn't the done thing. I got it re coloured years later I love it. Since then I have 4 more on my shoulders and upper arms and a tiny ; on my foot. I love all of my tattoos I used my freedom to choose what I wanted! To all those who are hating them on other people! mind your own business!

Don't mind them on men.
Don't much like them on women . Most of them just seem random , faded-inky and disfiguring.
However each to their own . I have had pierced ears from my teens onwards. My late mother use to think that pierced ears were the work of the Devil. Eeeerrr.... obviously they'r e not......

I hate tattoos on anyone! These full sleeves are just gross on a man even more gross on a woman. I just don't get them. Yuk!

Dame Judi Dench and David Dimbleby both had tattoos when they were older. I'm thinking of having a very small heart with my late husband's initial inside it, that will mean something to me.

Some years ago my friend’s son told his mother than he was thinking about having a tattoo and couldn’t make his mind up what to have. His mother reminded him of the things he was obsessed with while growing up, particularly Thomas the Tank Engine which he swore he would love for ever.

He decided against it.

I think the whole tattoo business took off when David Beckham started having them.

I loathe them unless they’re discreet and out of general sight, but that’s just my opinion.

My husband had a few tattoos done when he was 16/17…one for his mum and dad..one with his sisters name and one with both his niece and nephews name…he regrets them now as people assume they are mine and our children’s names.
He has offered to have them changed but hasn’t got round to it !

I've always wanted a tattoo of a certified band so I got one on my wrist when I was 63 years old. Also underneath a 2 inch one of a yellow, blue and green hummingbird! Thrilled with it. Thats it though .... don't need anymore. Everyone to their own.

My grandfather who I sadly never met was tattooed from the neck to his ankles( but not below the wrist). He was in the army and his best mate was a tattoo artist so used him as a canvas. When I found this out I was amazed because my grandmother was very strait laced and photos of him show a very dapper clean cut man. When they went on seaside holidays she would only let him on the beach before 7 am and after 7 pm. The tattooist got drunk one night punched the Sergeant Major and then ran away. We still have the old tattoo box in the family! I remember sailors used to have a swallow tattooed on the fleshy part below the thumb on the back of the hand. I find them interesting but couldn’t face one myself!

I feel the same, and the same about my opinions on others' choices.
I've realised nobody cares what I think (and rightly so)
