Sofa beds?

What do you think of the benefit of a sofa bed in a spare room versus a proper bed? I use our spare room as a craft/ office space and we have family/ couples to stay a day or two a month. Looking at prices, sofa beds seem so much more expensive, and not that comfortable...the mattresses look thin. But a bed would take up most of the room, tho i could just plonk myself on it and spread my things around. Any thoughts on how you have decided? Thanks

I'm sure I've seen almost this exact post before?

Sofa bed comfort depends on how much you pay. The cheaper ones do seem flimsy and uncomfortable in my experience.

You mentioned a bed, for couples / family. I assume you would need a double. As a suggestion, have a look at camping / outdoor shops. They sell inflatable beds, often powered by mains-powered built-in inflators. They look really comfy and could be deflated and sorted when not in use. £100 or less would get a good one.

*I meant stored, not sorted.

I’ve got a day-bed type thing (enclosed on 3 sides) but there’s a trundle underneath. It doesn’t zip together, but makes 2 singles, side by side, or apart.
