She had been in hospital for over 5 weeks, battling infection after infection as best her frail old body could fight.
R.I.P Jean. A good woman, a good mum, a good person. X

I'm so sorry for you at this time. No matter how old you or they are, or how long they have been ill, it is still a sad blow. At least you have some wonderful memories to sustain you and I hope they will bring you comfort in the days and years ahead,

I'm very sorry, Missadventure and Storynana, to hear of the losses you've suffered. Regardless of age, it is very hard to lose a parent. Both of mine died many years ago but I still miss them and always will. There is also no denying that the first Xmas is particularly hard.

All I can say is - be kind to yourselves. Don't be afraid to accept help when it's offered. Do whatever makes you feel better, whether it's getting as much rest as you can or keeping yourself continually busy. Indulge in anything that cheers you up a bit (I've always found that a nip of something alcoholic helps!) And tell yourself that this will pass...the loss will always hurt but, eventually, it won't be so raw.

So very sorry to hear your sad news, I hope you are feeling as OK as possible. I remember when my lovely mum died two years ago aged 87 .... can't say how much I had hoped she would get better, how sad I was when she died and how much I loved her.?

Your mum will always be in your thoughts and it sounds as though you both loved each other tremendously, so do please remember the happy, lovely times as I am sure she would want you to. ?

It's so difficult losing a loved one and losing a mum no matter how poorly is always such a shock. Somewhere deep down we expect them to live forever. My thoughts are with you.

It doesn't matter the age or however prepared you are it's still a shock when it happens. Given time you will be able to remember the lovely times you had with her rather than the last few weeks. I always think of both my parents more at this time of year as we have such lovely memories of happy times spent together. Take care and look after yourself flowers

So sorry to hear the sad news of your mum at such a festive time. You may wish to hang a special decoration on your Christmas tree in memory of her.

I am sitting in a union retired members xmas lunch and thinking how I had my mum here at their Xmas lunch in 2011, So lots of warm hugs.

Sorry for your loss. It does not matter how old we or our mother are the loss is still a big one.

I do hope in time, when the rawness of grief has subsided, that you will have many lovely memories to sustain you in the future. flowers
