“John Anderson my jo, John,
When we were first acquent,
Your locks were like the raven,
Your bonie brow was brent;
But now your brow is beld, John,
Your locks are like the snaw,
but blessings on your frosty pow,
John Anderson, my jo!

John Anderson my jo, John,
We clamb the hill thegither,
And monie a cantie day, John,
We've had wi' ane anither;
Now we maun totter down, John,
And hand in hand we'll go,
And sleep thegither at the foot,
John Anderson, my jo! “

Maw

Thank you.

Not only for the poem but your beautiful choice of words in your thread title which will hold special thoughts for so many who have as you put it been denied the privilege of sharing their lives with their loved one but others preparing to accept that inevitability in their lives too.

Love this beautiful poem.

Still has the same impact as when I had to learn it at school.

My love and kind thoughts to those of you who go on without your DDH ❤️

Very timely for me; it was this Monday two years ago that DH went into hospital for the last time. He died eight days later.

That`s beautiful MawB x

Thankyou MawB. My DH passed away just three days after last Christmas.

I thought it might be Blue Sapphire - sending love and comfort.
If my experience is anything to go by, getting past all the “this time two years ago...” day by day countdown of events which are so etched in your memory does help to ease the pain once it is past.
Pink princess I had not realised, but sending love and condolences to you too. flowersflowers

To all who are missing their life's partner I send my love and condolences. Sadly, I do not have one ....but I can assure you if anything does happen to him,, I will be sad. Married for 25 years, shared 3 children, until I wasn't good enough.

Thank you Maw, you remembered rightly. Seems to be the worst time for me, worse than birthdays, anniversaries etc.
So sorry pinkprincess.
