I posted this a few minutes ago under Chat but it hasn’t appeared on Active Conversations so I am copying it here so that it doesn’t disappear
If anybody wants to make a donation in her memory, Cats Protection League or Cancer charities were dear to her heart - MacMillan or Marie Curie.
If you wish a name for reference when contacting the charity, it is Rachel Hudson.

Thank you Phoenix for all the laughs over the past 8 years, even when life was tough for you. You have brightened my day so many times and I really miss your hilarious posts. You have left such a legacy to Gransnetters and your bravery and resilience is an inspiration to so many of us. I will be joining the Pata Pata tribute and send my sincere condolences to all your family and friends who are very much in my thoughts today. flowers

Phoenix. Remembering her wit, warmth and empathy. Such a loss to her family and friends and those on Gransnet who had the good fortune to know her. My thoughts are with you.

Thank you MawBe.

I had been thinking about Phoenix this morning and will be having a little jig and remembering her at 10.20.

It's a very sad day but also will be filled with the memories of all those who loved her. She will also be remembered forever on Gransnet for her quirky take on life and, of course, for Cursing the Gammon; thank you for posting it again.

I have asked Alexa to play Pata Pata and she is doing it with gusto. I am not able to jig around but the spirit is willing if the flesh is weak.

Phoenix has enriched many lives with her wit and humour.

Shinamae Mon 06-Sep-21 10:42:39

I got my Alexa to play it and shed a few tears ?????

Well, I shed a tear or two thinking about Phoenix and listening to the magnificent Miriam Makeba sing Pata Pata.

Miriam Makeba died in 2008.

I hope the spirit of these two indomitable women are Pata Pata-ing together, somewhere beautiful. ???

Today our Phoenix/Rachel was laid to rest.

The Parting Glass

Of all the money that e'er I had, I spent it in good company
And of all the harm that e'er I've done, alas it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit, to memory now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Goodnight and joy be with you all
Of all the comrades that e'er I had, they're sorry for my going away
And all the sweethearts that e'er I had, they would wish me one more day to stay
But since it falls unto my lot that I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and I'll softly call, "Goodnight and joy be with you all!"
A man may drink and not be drunk, a man may fight and not be slain
A man may court a pretty girl and perhaps be welcomed back again
But since it has so ordered been by a time to rise and a time to fall
Come fill to me the parting glass, good night and joy be with you all
Come fill to me the parting glass, good night and joy be with you all”

Goodnight, dear friend. You are now at peace, but you remain in our hearts. ?
