I was told to read this by 2 librarians when I was looking for something different for a Reading Group. It is not a long book but I do recommend it. Set in 1920s Wales- a young man sees a pretty girl at a picnic & proposes. She says yes & then he realises he has made a huge mistake!
I finished up waking up at 6am to see what happened in the end.
Quite gentle but with a hard centre.
I loved it- looking forward to seeing what the rest of the group make of it. I think there will be some interesting talking points.
