Has anyone else read this lovely book? First NG book I've read and I'm hooked, his writing is subtle and beautiful and evocative and imaginative and so much more. The story wasn't what I expected but it was so much better for that ...

Big fan. Try Stardust. Also The Graveyard Book. See also this thread, which i must revive forthwith as I am a bit stuck for ideas.

I want to read this book, but have about 6 books [on Kindle] TBR so will wait a bit, it does sound like a good read, I like the unusual.

Just to let all Neil Gaiman fans know, the film of his book "Stardust" is on Film4, Saturday evening at 6.25PM. Enjoy!

One of my favourite films!

I've just finished reading Stardust (following JessM's recommendation). It was lovely! I didn't know it had been made into a film when I started reading but the story was familiar although I knew I hadn't read it before so seeing Stardust on the TV listings was a lightbulb moment! Now I'm off to look for the next Gaiman book to read...

Didn't he also write Neverwhen? This was made into a tv series which my teenagers liked [ages ago.] Seem to remember it's set in the old tube stations under London, but not our own London.Does he write all his books for Y/A ? or is some of it for adults?

He did - I'm waiting for it to come back to the library and looking forward to reading it. I hadn't known it had been made for TV, I wonder if I saw it? I'm not sure which books are YA or for adults but I don't think it matters because they are enjoyable stories. He's written(?) lots of graphic books too - a very talented man!
