Many thanks to Gransnet for my copy of Hello from the Gillespies, which arrived in a very soggy state this morning. Thanks to my postman too for delivering it and not charging me postage even though it was neither franked nor stamped. smile

Thank you for my copy of Hello from the Gillespies which arrived today. It was a lovely surprise as I didn't know I had won a copy. I began reading straight away as I am rather poorly at the moment and tucked up in bed so lots of time to read.

In case anyone wants to listen, the author was interviewed last week on Woman's Hour (Tuesday 14th). Still available to listen on the website. Very amusing, made me want to read the book!

I got my copy of Hello from the Gillespies on Saturday and finished it in the wee small hours of Sunday morning. Thoroughly enjoyed reading it and the interesting and unexpected twists which I will not spoil for others. I will certainly look out for this author, it is always good to find someone new whose work you enjoy. I should like to ask her which of the three countries she depicts that she most enjoys? Didn't seem to be any autobiographical details included which makes it hard to second guess.

Thanks so much for my copy of this book, I have just finished it, can't believe it - over 500 pages. But I just couldnt put it down. This is the first one I have read by this author, but will definitely be looking for more. A good read for this time of year, when I do get a few round robin Christmas letters from friends whose lives seem a lot more together than my own.
I really identified with Angela, trying to keep her family together, and I'm sure a lot of us will identify with our grown up children still having problems.
A good one for book groups, I will recommend it to mine.
Thanks again.

Thank you for my copy of Hello from The Gillespies received last week , I started reading it this weekend and find it hard to put down! I know a few people who send out the Round Robin letters each year and one family member's seems to get more dire each year. It is so topical for this time of year and so easy to get into you just have to keep reading to find out what each character is doing next. Thank you again for such an enjoyable read , definitely a book I will be recommending.

Thank you for my copy of Hello from the Gillespies - it arrived this morning, perfect timing as I have just finished my own Book Club book A Week in Paris.
Looking forward to a few cosy nights reading and posing some questions/comments soon.

Thank you for my copy of this months book. I wll start it tomorrow. It remnds me of a dear friend (sadly died a few years ago,) who had a round robin every Christmas from her Aunt. We used to meet up for coffee every January and have a giggle over it.

Just received my copy of Hello from the Gillespies this morning, and really looking forward to getting started.
I have several friends who send round robin letters every Christmas, and to be honest, I just skim over them and then bin them. Maybe it would be kinder to say something, or would that offend, hard to know, what do others think?

emmasnan Sat 15-Nov-14 18:56:01

Thank you for my copy. I have borrowed a copy of John Bishop's 'How did all this happen?' and am half way through it. I'll have to finish this first so that I can return it. By the way, if you like John Bishop you would certainly enjoy his book. It's a good read.

Looking forward to reading Hello from the Gillespies and thanks again. I'm not used to winning things so I'm delighted.

harrigran Sat 15-Nov-14 13:25:50

Particularly delighted to receive my copy of 'Hello from the Gillespies' as a) I am never usually successful in raffles, draws, competitions and the like - and this time I have been! b) I had completely forgotten that I'd submitted my name for this. Great start to a Saturday!!

Gagagran Sat 15-Nov-14 11:14:11

Lovely surprise this morning when my copy of "hello from the Gillespies" was delivered. I am in the middle of book 5 of the Cazelet series, so Hello from the Gillespies will be next on the list! Many many thanks Gransnet, hope that I enjoy it as much as I did "Miss Carters War"
P.s. It was great to have a reply to my comments from Sheila Hancock!
