Over the festive season we love nothing more than curling up with a good book and a box of mince pie or two. And this year there are some VERY good books indeed. So we asked all the publishers we work with to nominate one of their favourite reads to enjoy this Christmas. And here they all are in one handy list.

Better still - one lucky gransnetter can win the ENTIRE lot. Yup - that's every book featured on the page. Worth more than £500. In our book (no pun intended) that's a pretty fine haul at any time of year - and absolutely perfect for Christmas.

We just want to know where you like reading. Your answers will be put into the very large hat and a draw (made at random) will take place at midday on Weds 10 December - so the winner will receive their prize in plenty of time for the big day. All the details on the page

My favourite place to read? Is anywhere at anytime!

When I was working, I used to love to read on my 40 minutes commute into work and then the same on my way home. My wife despaired to see me reading at home, when she could find me some job to keep me occupied. Nowadays, I carry a book with me and snatch a few minutes in places like doctors waiting rooms, or a longer session when I catch a bus to a nearby town to volunteer as a computer mentor at the local carers centre. I still prefer the feel of a real book rather than a tablet for my reading, and always donate them to a charity shop afterwards.

In summer I prefer a deckchair in the garden (as long as the sun is shining). In winter it's on the chair I inherited from my grandmother (they knew how to make comfortable chairs back then).

on the reclining sofa next to the radiator with dog curled up beside me

I love to read in the bath , trouble is this means I take over the bathroom for hours and endless top ups of water mean there's no hot water left for anyone else , in the summer I read in the garden on my sunlounger with a glass of pimms

In my comfy armchair
Cat on my knee
A book in hand
With a nice cup of tea

Has to be on my bed with my dogs snuggled close by! One is a Great Dane, Blue, the other a Maltese Poodle, Trogg. My Little and Large! Once comfortably settled I can immerse myself in my books totally unbothered by their snoring!

We've created a cosy place especially for enjoying reading, we have loads of bookshelves, a comfy sofa with cushions or 2 chairs to choose from plus reading lamps behind them so that the light is perfect. With the heater on and a blanket to snuggle under and a glass of wine on the little table at the side its finally the perfect set up!

Recently, I started reading in bed again.
I say recently because until a few months ago my husband's snoring was disturbing my sleep almost nightly. So why didn't I switch on the light and read the latest crime thriller?.
Well apart from the fact that I may have hit him over the head with the book, he complained he couldn't sleep with the light on! Then one day he said that my tossing and turning was waking him up and he decided to try sleeping in the guest room. He has continued to do this as he says he gets a much better nights sleep!
I just smile and say nothing as I close the bedroom door behind him because now I can curl up with my duvet and loads of pillows and just read.............. grin

Feet up in the armchair in front of the fire

In the winter, curled up on sofa with a glass of red, and maybe a little chocolate, in front of an open fire.
In summer, I used to love to sit outside, in a park and read.

Definitely tucked up in bed with pillows and duvet, cup of tea on hand. No better place. I can read anywhere and everywhere but do enjoy the comfort of being curled up in a large armchair surrounded by cushions, by a fire in winter and looking out into the garden in warm weather.

Ideally on a balmy summer afternoon under a sunshade at our rented "cottage" at Iken in Suffolk, but for the rest of the year in the kitchen waiting for the timer to go.

In summer, on the beach or my favourite Greek harbourside café, in the winter, in my bed.

I like to read curled up in bed, trouble is I work outdoors all day ( I am a horticulturist) so I tend to nod off half way through a chapter!!

kamoc Tue 18-Nov-14 20:47:20

I like to read lying in my bed before dozing off

jands4 Tue 18-Nov-14 18:53:56

Hi there
I love to read on the beach on a hot sunny day. What a fantastic selection of books!

bradybunch Tue 18-Nov-14 15:54:50

the best place to read has got to be snug and warm in bed with the rain beating on the windows.

crowfeather Tue 18-Nov-14 09:52:35

I like to read in the bath, at the end of the day, with a cup of chamomile tea on the shelf where I can reach it. It must be a paperback novel, no electric tablet for me.

MrsJ2000 Tue 18-Nov-14 08:42:39

In the summer I like relaxing on a deckchair in the garden with a cold drink and nothing but the birds and the bees for company
In the winter, curled up on a big armchair near the fire with a mug of hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows in.

barbaraellen Mon 17-Nov-14 23:24:49

Definitely curled up in bed is the best place especially with a cup of tea to hand.

I just like to read - doesn't really matter where, but one of my favourite situations is when my menfolk are out on the sea on a cold wet day and I'm sitting on an empty beach under an umbrella with a flask of something hot and a really engrossing book. Magical. smile

CHIiNTZ Mon 17-Nov-14 22:20:02

In a comfy chair with my feet up in the conservatory.

josie301 Mon 17-Nov-14 20:58:27

I always have my book with me - so in the car, in the coffee shop - anywhere really. My favourite place to read is curled up in my cosy chair with a cup of tea smile

Pshortis Mon 17-Nov-14 20:20:27

I like to curl up next to a fireplace, preferably with a cup of hot cocoa in a dressing gown and slippers for extra comfort. you can't beat it smile
