Over the festive season we love nothing more than curling up with a good book and a box of mince pie or two. And this year there are some VERY good books indeed. So we asked all the publishers we work with to nominate one of their favourite reads to enjoy this Christmas. And here they all are in one handy list.

Better still - one lucky gransnetter can win the ENTIRE lot. Yup - that's every book featured on the page. Worth more than £500. In our book (no pun intended) that's a pretty fine haul at any time of year - and absolutely perfect for Christmas.

We just want to know where you like reading. Your answers will be put into the very large hat and a draw (made at random) will take place at midday on Weds 10 December - so the winner will receive their prize in plenty of time for the big day. All the details on the page

In bed in the morning before anyone else wakes up

On the sofa when DH is watching football or (worse) wrestling! I'll read anywhere though!!

hannonle Fri 14-Nov-14 15:20:37

I like to read when sitting on the sofa - or even better, outside in the garden on a lovely summer's day!

I seem to do most of my reading on the loo or at the kitchen table these days.
Where would I like to read?Under a tree, in the month of June, looking forward to the rest of summer!

I would love to say that it's in a window seat overlooking extensive manicured gardens a la Pride and Prejudice. In reality it's snuggled up under a blanket on my very comfortable sofa, which is almost as good!

Like so many of my fellow Gransnetters, it's bed for me too.
Whether it's snuggling up under the duvet with a good read to fall asleep by.....or going back to bed with a hot drink on a morning like today, listening to the wind and the rain and feeling so glad not to have to get up! smile

The sky is always blue, the vivid pink bougenvillia arches overhead, the yellow wall of the Arabic house is next to the out door settee and the call to prayer echoes over the garden. My favourite place to read is in my son's garden in Qatar where the warmth seeps into your bones and it is so relaxing that any book becomes a joy to read.

After a long and tiring day, I like to curl up in bed and read for at least half hour. I find it really relaxing and it helps me sleep better.

GrannyGlyn Fri 14-Nov-14 14:08:31

When I wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep, there is nothing better than a good read and a cup of tea.
Trouble is, most times I get so engrossed, I read until I have to get up!

I read in bed every night to wind my brain down from the day!

Snuggled up in bed

I love to read in bed with the radio playing music softly, the best way to relax.

Ideally by a pool somewhere warm and sunny, but more usually in bed, waiting in the car park for someone to turn up, or in the bath. The waiting rooms in hospitals, doctors, opticians and dentists are a few more to add, or on a train if I'm fortunate enough to be sent to London by my company

gran1 Fri 14-Nov-14 11:45:18

My favourite place is in bed, reading for an hour, in the morning, before I have to get up.

stoodles Fri 14-Nov-14 11:43:43

In the loo! It's the one place I can get peace and quiet

GrandmaCornwall Fri 14-Nov-14 11:32:14

In the summer my favourite place to read would be on a sun lounger in my peaceful back garden and in the winter by the wood burner with a large mug of drinking chocolate and maybe a homemade cake or two.

JillMay Fri 14-Nov-14 11:28:06

Since I was a small child my favourite reading place is in bed.

Lilygran Fri 14-Nov-14 11:25:11

Anywhere and everywhere!

ataraxia Fri 14-Nov-14 11:07:04

In a soft leather chair near a roaring fire, cradling a mug of thick hot chocolate.

granh1 Fri 14-Nov-14 11:01:58

I love to curl up in bed with a book, appreciating the warmth and quiet, after a busy day. The problem is I tend to fall asleep, unless I'm reading a very good book!

Auntieflo Fri 14-Nov-14 10:53:54

In bed in the morning, with my cup of tea from DH. On the sofa during the day, propped up with many cushions, waiting for a cup of tea to materialise. In the bath, not often now, as I have trouble hauling myself out, but I have found that by turning round and getting onto my knees is helpful. By the way, if I am into a really good book, as I get nearer the end, I read more slowly to make it last longer. Any one else do that?
I thought I saw something recently, that asked about your favourite books, read as a child. I thought of several, but now can't find the link. Help.

I like curling up on sofa with book and right by log fire. its wonderful

tigger Fri 14-Nov-14 10:47:20

In bed, day or night.

baubles Fri 14-Nov-14 10:39:18

Of all the places where I love to read my favourite is a sunny park bench beside a pond which is home to ducks, geese and a heron.

I have to be warm though, so snuggled up in my favourite armchair or standing at the stove stirring a sauce with my nose in a book is where I'm to be found in bad weather.

missdeke Fri 14-Nov-14 10:26:04

Absolutely anywhere and everywhere! As long as I can have a book in my hand I am happy. I do draw the line at when I'm driving though :-) .
