Over the festive season we love nothing more than curling up with a good book and a box of mince pie or two. And this year there are some VERY good books indeed. So we asked all the publishers we work with to nominate one of their favourite reads to enjoy this Christmas. And here they all are in one handy list.

Better still - one lucky gransnetter can win the ENTIRE lot. Yup - that's every book featured on the page. Worth more than £500. In our book (no pun intended) that's a pretty fine haul at any time of year - and absolutely perfect for Christmas.

We just want to know where you like reading. Your answers will be put into the very large hat and a draw (made at random) will take place at midday on Weds 10 December - so the winner will receive their prize in plenty of time for the big day. All the details on the page

The only time I get to read is bedtime. My favourite part of the day, curled up in bed with a good read.

The best place to read is on a sunbed overlooking a pool with the sea to my right on a Greek Island in June/July. I am remembering 14 happy days in Corfu when I get to the pool early in the morning & have it all to myself for an hour or so (it never gets crowded)-. With breaks for a swim, drinks, lunch- maybe a stroll down to village to get lunch & then an afternoon of chatting to DH & planning where to eat that night while reading all the books I have been saving for the holiday.
I can happily spend 14 days doing this with the occasional trip out n the car.
Many Greek islands have played host to this scenario & it will be Rhodes next year!

I love to read curled up on the sofa or in bed with the quilt over me and a hot cup of tea.

My favoutiete place to read is in our conservatory. We have downsized and in the process we now have a small garden easily managed so I do not feel guilty sitting in the sun reading .

My favourite place to read is relaxing with my feet up on my squishy comfy sofa after all chores are done and I can escape into my latest read.
How I love my 5 grandchildren cannot be defined but I can liken it to the enjoyment and sheer pleasure and fun that a good book can give you.

I would love to be reading on a warm sunny beach but I have to make do with staying in bed that little bit longer on these dark mornings and being transported away somewhere ficticious - is that a real word?

I try not to get too comfortable when reading as I have a tendency of nodding off! So frustrating as the next time I start to read I usually have to go back a few pages to remember what I had been reading. Case of "old age" catching up! Despite this, I could not imagine life without books whether it be getting lost in the fantasy, reading about someone's poignant life story or for learning.

Tucked into the corner of the extremely comfy sofa in the garden room overlooking the garden with roof lights above me and the radiator beside me. Bliss! ;)

Reading about a life of crime
No prison cell for me
Rather a comfy armchair
and a nice hot cup of tea.

Reading a tale of love
I'll sprawl on my settee
Glass of wine, soft music
and OH close to me.

Reading a travel tome
I'll be jetting off somewhere
Hoping for sunnier times and climes
And a fortnight free from care.

In a hammock under a palm tree on a Caribbean beach. Only dreaming. On bed with my furry pussy cat snuggled next to me and a warm blanket over us.

The problem is I just love reading.
So it's anywhere any time.

A friend once told her son who was finding life hard, "You are never alone if you have a book." I find that comforting, yet incredibly powerful.

We have a cabin at at a wonderfully surreal place that is called Paddy's Hole at the South Gare, Cleveland. There, near the wood burning stove, listening to birds, fishermen and passing ships, I love to read.

I can still not 'allow' myself to read at home during the day - only in bed at night time - and this is so sad. I am hoping that as I become an 'old lady' this will change.

Nothing comes close to the happy memories of holiday reading as a child, amongst the sand dunes near Hemsby. However, if I find a book I enjoy, it does not matter where I am, but a comfortable chair helps.

Thank you for the list. I will look some of these books up if I am not fortunate enough to win this competition.

I also absolutely love reading in bed, it's my favourite pastime, I also enjoy reading in the garden in the summer, anywhere will do as I read a lot, but reading in bed is the ultimate relaxation for me, any time of day or night, always with my dog and cats for their loving company and extra warmth, sometimes with a hot water bottle too smile I can't really express just how much it means to me, I adore the peace and quiet, the escapism that is BOOK BLISS, pure heaven !!

My really really favourite place to read is on a sofa with my young grandchildren curled around me, all wide eyed as their storybook unfolds.
But when I am alone with a good book of my own, it matters not where I am so long as I am comfortable because if the story is compelling it takes me to wherever the tale is being told, and I forget my surroundings. A good book is a magic thing.

I love to read in bed with my pillows stacked in the corner propping me up. So comfortable! Great reads on the list.

I have a special comfy chair in the livingroom where I read once I've finished the housework. Depending on the book, I also read instead of doing the housework!
Thanks for the exciting prizes on offer.

I don't really mind where I read, as long as I can read in peace, undisturbed. If pushed, I would probably say - snuggled up in bed.

Anytime, any place, anywhere! I've been at work today, so I read for ten minutes when I woke up, and over breakfast. Took the book to the staff dining room, and read while slurping my soup. Enjoyed a couple of chapters in the bath this evening, and now just on my way up to bed, with the book tucked under my arm. Heaven.

Living as we do, way up in the high mountains, during the snowy depths of winter, there is nothing better than taking a good book and a hot drink up onto the mezzanine. There we have a lovely comfy sofa, just right for lazily enjoying good literature, and the warmth from the woodburner below creates a toasty hideaway. There, with the dog's head on my lap and my feet cosily swaddled in her thick fur, I can indulge my lifelong passion for reading - and I do!

SusieWilkinson Thu 13-Nov-14 23:58:23

I love to be snuggled up in bed on my own, and just get immersed in the book <3

I was given an old rattan bedroom chair by a chap who thought it was only fit for the tip,so I restored it and painted it matt black, covered the seat and painstakingly rivited the front with antique nails for effect, topped with a burgundy frilly cushion it is my favourite place to sit and read, feet can be resting on the edge of my bed and I can see out of bedroom window down on to The River across to Liverpool Skyline,oh and the door must be closed tight to keep out any interruptions.

Rosannie Thu 13-Nov-14 22:44:43

Late night in bed. On the sofa during the day if the rare chance appears.
Best of all I love parking up in a prime spot to collect the grandsons from school and reading in blissful isolation, can do two hours without being embarrassed!

Purpledaffodil Thu 13-Nov-14 22:44:20

Curled up with a new Marion Keyes on a squidgy sofa with a fire roaring dangerously up the chimney. Preferably with a nice mug of tea made by someone else.
