Over the festive season we love nothing more than curling up with a good book and a box of mince pie or two. And this year there are some VERY good books indeed. So we asked all the publishers we work with to nominate one of their favourite reads to enjoy this Christmas. And here they all are in one handy list.

Better still - one lucky gransnetter can win the ENTIRE lot. Yup - that's every book featured on the page. Worth more than £500. In our book (no pun intended) that's a pretty fine haul at any time of year - and absolutely perfect for Christmas.

We just want to know where you like reading. Your answers will be put into the very large hat and a draw (made at random) will take place at midday on Weds 10 December - so the winner will receive their prize in plenty of time for the big day. All the details on the page

On a settee overlooking the garden with a nice cup of tea in my hand - that has to be my favourite reading place.

I read in bed, every night, and for hours....that's my location of choice, with 3 pillows and brew to keep me going.
Needless to say, I'm alone with my chosen hardback or paperback wink.
I read at the GP's surgery, on the train, waiting for friends in smart restaurants, in short: whenever and wherever I can.
sad I doubt I'll win these books but the thought of so many hours of good reading makes me smile.

Happiness is a book to read with legs up on one of my 2 seat sofa's situated in my south facing lounge ... one is facing south and the other faces west ... a choice of 2 options with some time for me with a book.

In the bath soaking - I can read until the water gets cold, then top up with hot water and keep doing that for as long as I have the time… otherwise in bed at night before going to sleep, that certainly sorts out any worries I might have from the day just gone, or the one to come. Sometimes lying in the sun, wherever I am - at home in the summer or away during the year somewhere warm. Bliss!

I like curling up in bed with a good book at the end of the day - I can't remember the last time I went to sleep without having read first

I read anywhere and everywhere. My favourite places though are curled up in the armchair in the corner of the living room or in a nice hot bubble bath.

Definitely first thing in the morning, snuggled up under the duvet with a nice cuppa made by OH - unless little grandson is visiting, of course, when there is NO chance of a lay-in!

On a long train or plane journey when I have long enough to get really into the story/text. And I can do it uninterrupted too smile

I like to stretch out on my sunbed on the beach under the golden Mediterranean sun.

My favourite place to read is on the sofa in our SunRoom, especially when the Sun is pouring in, however even on the dullest of days, it is such a bright room, I can curl up and absolutely loose myself in my reading, using a lovely fluffy Cosy throw to cover me up if needed in winter.

franjo Thu 13-Nov-14 19:31:28

At this time of the year I enjoy taking my book and a mug of coffee into the conservatory so I can still see the garden and birdlife as well. The winter sun still warms the conservatory during the day and saves on the heating bills! Of an evening I like to curl up in bed and read wrapped in my duvet

My favourite place is anywhere where I feel cosy and comfortable. It could be snuggled up in bed, while nursing a cold. Or on the sofa, in front of a crackling fire (reminds me of my 1950s childhood), or in the summer... sitting on a sun terrace at the villa in Spain, where we spend our holidays!

TaoGran Thu 13-Nov-14 19:29:02

In the bath, in bed, in the garden, in the park, wherever I can read in peace.

Yve1 Thu 13-Nov-14 19:24:28

I do most of my reading in the morning before work. I take my breakfast and my book and sit in the bath and read, eat and drink coffee.I then feel up to joining the world. Great prize Gransnet x

Sitting in the shade on a beach overlooking the sea ..somewhere warm of course. Failing that, snuggled up in bed cosy and drowsy (only trouble is that you get to read the same paragraph several times when you start to nod off.

I love to read in our little caravan in Dorset - especially at this time of year when it's sometimes a bit cold to go out too far - with a pot of tea and some yummy local cake, the dog on my knee and my Husband out birdwatching - what more could i need!!!

NanSue Thu 13-Nov-14 19:14:41

I run a really hot bath and read until the water is so cold I can stand it no more, also I don't remember a night in bed that I haven't read at least 20 pages of my current book but my favourite place is the "reading room" that we have converted in the back of our garage, small and simple but warm and comfortable where I can ignore the door and 'phone, the only thing keeping me company is the mobile phone for emergencies and a glass of red. Bliss!!

alabaster Thu 13-Nov-14 19:14:39

Curled up in our slightly undersized corner armchair that hugs me in cold winter evenings!

freefan Thu 13-Nov-14 19:14:15

In the summer I love getting out into the garden and just getting lost in a book with the sound of the birds, at this time of year it's curled up on the sofa....roll on summer smile

haddersmum Thu 13-Nov-14 19:05:56

On the sofa or in bed, preferably when there is nowhere to go and nothing to do. Doesn't happen often!

caponier Thu 13-Nov-14 19:05:28

It used to be curled up with the grandchildren as I read them a story but now they're too old! I love to read anywhere but my favourite would be beside one of the Austrian Lakes surrounded by beauty and tranquility.

milkflake Thu 13-Nov-14 19:04:27

In summer I love to read in the garden, but every night I read 30 to 60 mins in bed, I can't go to sleep without a good read smile

yggdrasil Thu 13-Nov-14 18:52:22

I have a comfy chair that both reclines and swivels, and a matching footstool. They are in my sitting room right by the radiator, That is the best place to lose myself in a book
