Over the festive season we love nothing more than curling up with a good book and a box of mince pie or two. And this year there are some VERY good books indeed. So we asked all the publishers we work with to nominate one of their favourite reads to enjoy this Christmas. And here they all are in one handy list.

Better still - one lucky gransnetter can win the ENTIRE lot. Yup - that's every book featured on the page. Worth more than £500. In our book (no pun intended) that's a pretty fine haul at any time of year - and absolutely perfect for Christmas.

We just want to know where you like reading. Your answers will be put into the very large hat and a draw (made at random) will take place at midday on Weds 10 December - so the winner will receive their prize in plenty of time for the big day. All the details on the page

I love reading as I go for a walk

I read books in bed!

As an adult, I read on trains going to and from work, and when I went on holiday. Now I'm retired, so I don't travel for work, but travel more for leisure; I still read away from home, but I find ebooks much easier to carry so they have taken over for this purpose.

But real books I like reading in bed, as I did when I was a child, but didn't have much opportunity for during my working life.

Laying in a hot bubbly bath, with scented candles, a glass of wine and a good book - sooo relaxing!

I always read in bed - every night, but I can read anywhere, any time. The only place I can't read is in the car (not when I'm driving of course!) I love to curl up somewhere warm with the latest book I've found - from a variety of authors. But my fav place to read has to be on the balcony of a cabin on a cruise ship on a sea day. Peace, quiet, looking out over the sea, but with drinks and food to hand without me having to make it!

Curled up on my sofa with a cup of coffee or on my allotment sitting on a bear chair soaking up the rays.

Wow. What an amazing assortment of books. Where is my favourite place to read? Well, at this time of the year, it is curled up in my chair beside our Rayburn, keeping snug in the kitchen. Nothing like it on a cold dark afternoon, looking out at the countryside as the light fades away. No leaves on the trees and often blowing a gale here at Windy Ridge. My favourite indulgence. :-)

Welcome to all new members grin

My favourite place to read is on our verriere especially when it is pouring with rain and blowing a gale. It's as though I am in the elements but still cosy and warm - bliss.

In the winter snug in my bed but in the summer in my hammock out in the garden.....

Teresainwirral Thu 13-Nov-14 17:55:21

In bed, snuggled under the duvet with a cup of tea.

lindarumsey Thu 13-Nov-14 17:49:36

I love to read in/on the bed as my bedroom is lovely and light.

Well bed features prominently for me too. A sun bed, also on a Greek island beach, sipping a white wine spritzer (with frozen grapes instead of ice cubes) Or in my own comfy bed with some of my husband's crackers and cheese with a nice glass of port.
You'll notice alcohol features in both!

on the landing.. please don't ask why I have no idea. I often find myself sitting on the floor with a book there though.

But only if no-one else is in the house or I'd have to move every time someone went up or down the stairs.

Cailin7 Thu 13-Nov-14 17:36:26

In the conservatory curled up in a chair.

lemonbuns Thu 13-Nov-14 16:46:09

Favourite places to read include on buses, in bed and on the beach! Just wish I got more opportunity!

grannysmith953 Thu 13-Nov-14 16:41:17

Curled up on the sofa, in front of a roaring fire - in the winter that is, don't need the fire in the summer, usually.

jcyclops Thu 13-Nov-14 16:39:22

My favourite place to read is tucked up warm in bed.

mpsandy Thu 13-Nov-14 16:24:38

I love reading in my conservatory where it's peaceful and nice and light. Plus I can always pause to look up and watch the birds in the garden.

As well as reading at home in all the usual comfortable places, we are still lucky enough to have a local library which is an old comfortable warm building I love to sit there along with other fellow readers.

whitewave Thu 13-Nov-14 16:21:04

In bed or in the oh so comfortable rocking chair in the dining room. What an enormous list though!! I am going to make a note of then all in case I don't win!!

gedge Thu 13-Nov-14 16:16:51

My favourite place to read is in bed. A few chapters before I go to sleep.

jed16 Thu 13-Nov-14 16:05:55

In the garden in summer, and tucked up in bed in the winter.

cotswoldlass Thu 13-Nov-14 15:50:24

On a balcony anywhere warm and sunny with the sound of the waves lapping on the shore. Failing that I like reading curled up on the sofa with a cup of tea by my side.

Kemcaflipflops Thu 13-Nov-14 15:41:33

At this timeof year I like lounging on the couch, along with a coffee & some sweets. It reminds me how my Mum, sister and me spent every rainy Saturday afternoon after our visit to the library in the morning

grannyJillyT Thu 13-Nov-14 15:31:10

Ooh, snuggled up on the sofa in front of the fire, cup of tea and peace brew - that's in the winter, in the summersunshine, by a pool with a glass of vino wine - preferably in Menorca with the family (they will be on the beach) peace and my sort of heaven - so long as it's a good book in both cases! wink

crossstitchgill Thu 13-Nov-14 15:23:19

I like to read in bed but my favourite place is on the beach in Barbados, especially at approx. 11am when the sorbet comes round!
