Over the festive season we love nothing more than curling up with a good book and a box of mince pie or two. And this year there are some VERY good books indeed. So we asked all the publishers we work with to nominate one of their favourite reads to enjoy this Christmas. And here they all are in one handy list.

Better still - one lucky gransnetter can win the ENTIRE lot. Yup - that's every book featured on the page. Worth more than £500. In our book (no pun intended) that's a pretty fine haul at any time of year - and absolutely perfect for Christmas.

We just want to know where you like reading. Your answers will be put into the very large hat and a draw (made at random) will take place at midday on Weds 10 December - so the winner will receive their prize in plenty of time for the big day. All the details on the page

Definitely curled up in bed, cup of coffee to hand and I can read for hours. Transporting me to a different world it is blissful.......

Anywhere will do. Reading on a train can be a joy. Getting immersed in the book and then looking up and seeing the people all around and the landscape whizzing past, then returning to the world of the book.

The best place is in bed on a cold winters evening

My favourite place is in bed. I have no other half so I take over the whole bed. I use pillows to support the book then the book sleeps alongside me. :-)

I love to curl up in bed with a good book and my dogs curled up beside me. That way I am comfortable and stay warm

The only place I read is in bed. I tried (many years ago) to read in the bath, and dropped a favourite book in there...never again!

My favourite place to read is in bed , a nice quiet room ( except for hubby's gentle snoring )with a cup of tea , bliss

No doubt about it, my bed. Sitting or wriggling under the covers, with a book in my hand, a drink and (ahem) some sneaky chocky and Im a HappyBunny

Ohh.. so many places to read. Favourite is cuddled up on the sofa with a quilt, hot cup of tea (or coffee) in front of the fireplace.

I like to lie back in a bubble bath and read and relax. It's my only chance at peace and quiet!

katiecoodle1 Thu 04-Dec-14 20:30:40

My favourite place to curl up with a book is on my armchair, with my dog snoozing on my lap, and a cup of tea on the side table next to me. I could be like that for hours.

Anywhere, a good book makes me forget where i am and even my cup of tea tea grows cold and the glass of wine gets old, the mincepie just sits..on hold.

On a plane! I cannot wait to escape the dreary weather in the UK. But, unfortunately no plane is booked this year, so I will have to lose myself in a book on the sofa in front of the fire, with my back very firmly facing the window!

So anyway...gransnet.com...

There's something I've been dying to tell you
A lovely way to burn through pages
Is to wait til the noisy animals have left our zoo
Then I'll read for ages

I'm really just being a funny girl
I love my family both in love and war
I'll whizz through a book in a whirl
Through the journey gain a sense of euphoria

Mr Mac and me,
Together we spend too much time you see
The computer strains my eyes
But I could read a book until the sunrise

One of my confessions is that to move I refuse
Instead I'll have a few brews
And Toast and Marmalade and other stories
I'll enjoy my comfy sofa spot in all it's glories

Has to be sitting on my patio surrounded by trees...

carocon Thu 04-Dec-14 10:54:17

I know I shouldn't but I love to read in bed!

hollystone Thu 04-Dec-14 09:55:01

My favourite place to read is in bed. Total peace and quiet so I can fully absorb myself into the story. When I read a particularly good book I often find as I near the end that I do not want it to finish...but then I remember all the joys of a new book smile
Merry Xmas everyone!! tchsmile

At around 4.30 in the morning, still in bed, with a reading light - bit like when I was a child, reading with a torch under the covers. But duvets are so much more adaptable!

magsmurphy Wed 03-Dec-14 20:48:09

My favourite place is on the bus.

Wallygrom Wed 03-Dec-14 20:34:59

In my bed, with a nice cup of hot chocolate snuggled up under my duvet!

sylwright Wed 03-Dec-14 20:27:05

Curled up in a bed after a busy day. That is definitely "me" time.

nickyfarmer Wed 03-Dec-14 18:43:24

I love to read in my comfy armchair, with the fire on if it's cold.
I have a little table by the side of the chair and sometimes there's a glass of wine waiting for me to sip as I read... wonderful

Andrea1 Wed 03-Dec-14 17:52:00

I like to snuggle up in bed with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate.

Scaredycat1 Wed 03-Dec-14 17:14:44

Historical novels Philippa Gregory being a favourite. I am also a great fan of Khalid Hosseini.
