One of our very favourite features is our annual round up of the best children's books of the year

This year we've featured you over 30 fantastic books for children of all ages, from babies and preschoolers - to young adults and teens. Great ideas for Christmas shopping. AND three lucky gransnetters get to win the lot...each set is worth over £350 and is sure to keep the family (and the wider family and the neighbours' kids...) happy for a very long time.

Full details on the page

To enter the draw - which will be made at midday on Tuesday 16 December - all you have to do is answer one simple question.

What's your favourite children's book of all time?

Maybe it's one that you loved as a child. One that you read to your own children. Or one that you read with your grandchildren. Old, new, classic or little-known...we look forward to compiling a list of gransnetters all-time favourites.

I was always an enthusiastic reader of Enid Blytons Famous Five series. A book was always at the top of my present wish list.

As a child my favorite book was 'the Musicians of Brenem, by the Brothers Grimm
It was about a donkey, a dog, a cat and a cock, who were all about to be killed by their owners, but encouraged by the donkey decided to become run away and become musicians. On their way they came across a robbers house, and by creating horrendous 'music' ( braying, barking etc etc) at the window, frightened the robbers away.
The animals took over the house, and despite the robbers attempt to regain it (the animals repeated their musical efforts) they decided to live there together forever.
I still have the origional book, and have read it to my children and my granddaughter who have also enjoyed it

My Favourite book was The Borrowers by Mary Norton
Sooo looking forward to sharing it with my Grandson

etheltbags1 Wed 03-Dec-14 09:25:32

My fave book of all time has to be Black Beauty by Anna Sewell.
It conjurs up life in the countryside where everyone knew their place and despite it being written from a horses point of view which realistic kids of today might find strange, I just loved it.
I also learned a lot about life, about social inequality which was rife in the 1800s, also it illustrated morality to a certain extent and after all that's what a good book does.

Mallory Towers books by Enid Blyton. I always wished school was just like in the stories which were such fun but of course I never had a 'midnight feast' which always seemed magical.
