I love to be alone working on the garden and being rewarded with home grown vegetables and summer fruit. Victoria plums straight from the tree, luscious strawberries and cream, mmmm.

My best thing about Summer, was travelling to the USA to meet the Girl I'm going to marry in October this year!! That was 2010, and I've neer looked back, I'm even moving there permanently, and we are going to start our own business!

My favourite thing about summer is the smell...

Getting up early on a summer morning and breathing the air that no one else has breathed yet, that sweet, damp, gentle air that the birds are thrilled to sing about.
Then, as the hours pass, the awakening of the 'Summer folk' who suddenly feel the need to snip and tidy and cut and coax their gardens into submission. The smell of cut grass and the woody sappy scent of straggly growth ,stripped from the Mother plant.

Late afternoon, the nectar drips from the plants with a sweet, sweet smell that is intoxicating and daring. Linen smells of sunshine as it lazily sways on the line, and on the thermals of air, a hint of the ripening strawberries at the bottom of the garden.

Early evening, a warm stone smell as the patio stores the day's heat.
The lovely tomatoey smell as plants are given their first watering, and the soapy shampoo smell of tired children, just bathed and sunkissed.

Night..and the deep earth smell of rest and damp and hearty warmth, and a building excitement of the promise of another summer day.

And all the time, the smell of memories, of beaches and family and sea and chips and happiness.
Ahh, the smell of summer.

My favourite thing about summer is longer days, warmer nights and everything looks better

To be able to wear summer clothes that look beautiful instead of big thick jumpers that make you look bulky. To open the windows and get a gentle breeze instead of a freezing blast.

Summer means doing nothing in the afternoons and evenings apart from watching Wimbledon and hoping one day to be there in person

Mistyfluff8 Tue 23-Jun-15 13:29:32

My favourite thing about summer is lying on the grass reading a good book eating strawberries and cream

Wimbledon and Pimms - the best thing about summer.

Windows open, light when I go to bed and when I wake up (not to birdsong but to seagulls!) and the sun on the sea (well, most days...) during my morning walk. And when the wind whistles and the rain sheets down, I appreciate the sunny days so much more.

Poppies!! I live near the South Downs and the fields around us get planted up with poppies... it's a sea of red and it really is beautiful.

I just love to sit in the garden, with a good book, and a nice glass of wine, enjoying the warmth, and the sunshine.

Ny favourite thing about the summer is the anticipation you feel. The anticipation of lazing around the garden in the long hot summer days with the sun warming your body whilst listening to the birds chirping in the trees and watching the bees hopping from flower to another. The anticipation of the summer holidays and the promise of a trip to some exotic location or even to your own back garden. The anticipation of the fun and laughter that the warm summer days inevitably bring.

Sitting out in the garden after work with a good book and to catch the last of the sun's rays.

Billy123 Tue 23-Jun-15 16:57:26

Having the time to sit and read of course!

krazy4022 Tue 23-Jun-15 21:37:33

my favourite thing about summer is all the wild flowers in the meadows, watching the clouds overhead and the butterflies and bees landing on the flowers

Long summer evenings that seem to go on forever. It is still light up here at 10pm. There aren't many advantages to living up here but our longer evenings are one of them.

Mythbirtthedragon Tue 23-Jun-15 23:37:22

My favourite thing about summer is that it's light when I go to work and light when I come home.

Swimming in the sea is my favourite summer pastime, I'll hopefully be doing this a lot right up until September, can't beat it, lazy days having fun with my dog at a local dog friendly beach smile with her tennis ball and my camera, oh and a packed lunch, who needs Christmas chaos ?!

creativz Wed 24-Jun-15 01:02:51
