What are you reading now?

I have just finished Little Black Lies TerriBull and really enjoyed it. I have found all Sharon Bolton's books, especially the stand alone ones, to be real page turners. The only Pater May book I have read is Runaway which was brilliant. I would like to read more of his.

Thanks Alima I have just started it, my husband finished it recently and he also tells me it's good, he is a great fan of Peter May. I have read Runaway, yes it was great, the other one I of his I have read is Entry Island which I would recommend.

I am reading " Frazzled " by Ruby Wax, enjoying it so far.

I've just finished 'This Boy' by Alan Johnson (MP) It is quite a page turner and the insight into such poverty and how he lived as a child in London in the 50s and 60s. But he can tell a tale and it never became too sad and miserable.
On my Kindle which I have started using for books I read years earlier but where the print is now too small, I have downloaded Gone with the Wind. Reading it now for the fourth time.

Just finished Dead Ever After by Charlaine Harris. I am now beginning to read Needful Things by Stephen King.

Just started reading "The Shepherd's Crown", the last Discworld novel by the late Terry Pratchett. I was in tears last night over the death of a fictional character. Oh no! Granny Weather was is dead. Now I can't wait to find out who gets her cottage!

Just started "Heaven Is for Real." About an American (little) lad who had a brush with death.

I find it startling and thought provoking.

I`ve just started on the last of my 4 medieval mysteries, it`s called The First Murder, based around a play written by an 11th Century monk, about Cain and Abel. I thought there were only the 4 books in this collection, but apparently there are more, so if I see them, I`ll be buying them.

Kate Atkinson, Life after Life. One of the best novels I've read in a while. Makes you think deeply about the forks in your own life, the what-ifs and the paths less taken. The scenes set in Blitz stricken London ...and too in Berlin...will stay with me for a long time. I couldn't have read this on a kindle though...Lots of flipping back and forward through the years between 1910 and 1967.

I loved it too GeminiJen, it divided opinion somewhat, be sure to read the follow up "A God in Ruins" also very good.

I`m now reading Another Man`s Child, by Anne Bennett, very good so far. It started in Ireland in 1920, has now moved on to Birmingham.

I've signed up for a website called 'goodreads' and you can apply to receive books for free to review. Waterstones used to do this too.
The last book I read was 'YOURS TRULY, 2095' by Brain Paone. If you like Sci Fi , you should try this book.

Due to being without phone abd internet for 2 days, I`ve done a fair bit of reading. I read Rooney, by Catherine Cookson, okay, but not up to the standard of some other books of hers. Then I read A Christmas Promise, by Annie Groves, loved it, followed by We`ll Meet Again, by Patricia Burns, quite a good read. I`m just starting on Personal, one of Lee Child`s Jack Reacher books, but may have slipped up buying this one, I`m not certain yet, but I think I`ve already read it.

About half way through The Martian by Andy Weir, which they've now made into a film. Really good! Thoroughly enjoying it!

Although wild horses wouldn't drag me into space, all of his explanations for how he's managing to grow potatoes on Mars sound entirely plausible. Just hope he survives...

I'm reading Val McDermid's The Torment of Others, with slightly gritted teeth because her books are often pretty explicitly gruesome ?
I loved The Martian by Andy Weir, looking forward to watching the film.

You Are Dead, by Peter James. Another in the Roy Grace series, and it`s really, really good.

I'm two books behind you, I think, numberplease, with Want You Dead I'm also reading The Scarpetta Factor, after someone told me Patricia Cornwell was back on form. Can't agree, I'm afraid - I'm skim reading it now and can't wait to get to the end of it.

I have just finished You are Dead and really enjoyed it too. I like Roy Grace, he, Frank Thorne, Rebus and Alan Banks are my favourites
I am currently reading a Robert Ryan book, The Dead Can Wait, bit of a fixation going on here! It is very good, set during WW1. There's lots going on, more like an adventure story than a detective story. The hero is Major Watson, Sherlock Holmes' buddy. I will be getting more in the series from the library.

Just discovered Jojo Moyes. I thought she was a chicklit writer but she's not (she should change her name - Joanna Moyes? - and get more readers). I read Me Before You which was excellent and now made into a film, I believe. Now I'm half way through The Ship of Brides which is enthralling and wonderfully well researched. I've downloaded samples of more of her writing on to my kindle. I always like to discover an author I've not read before, especially if they have written a lot of books.
