I received this book recently as a prize from GN. It's the story of a seamstress, cast out from her vicar father's house at 16, who meets and marries a hideously battle-scarred duke. A duke who desperately needs an heir but can no longer attract the eligible society girls he once did. So, a marriage of convenience.
Oh dear! I would probably have enjoyed this tedious book when I too was 16, but now? Forgive me for not reading beyond page 95 - and I think I deserve praise for getting that far.
If you like this sort of frivolous writing, it is an easy read, with a humorous style. But it's not for me. I'm sure the local Red Cross bookshop will be happy to find room on its shelves.

I’m afraid I only read 33 pages before I gave up on it. Not for me.
