In the middle of this and enjoying it. It’s set in the midst of the Compilation of the Oxford Dictionary from the end of the 1800’s and beginning of the 1900s. It is about the daughter of someone in the university team who is involved in an emotional and then intellectual way. Doesn’t sound wonderful but am fascinated by it.

I read about half of it and then abandoned it as I just couldn't maintain interest. The friend who lent it to me thought it was really good, but we're all different.

I read it quite recently and really enjoyed such a lovely gentle read. Well written too. Prompted me to read her other book, The Bookbinder of Jericho,

I read it a while ago and thought it was an interesting and enjoyable read.

I really enjoyed this. I loved the idea of the reject words. I liked that it was based on fact.

Just finishedThe Bookbinders of Jericho. Jericho being a part of the Oxford Press. I enjoyed this as well as it is a sequel to the Lost Words.

Those who like books about words might enjoy Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn. It's an easy read, but very clever. Islanders have to manage with fewer and fewer letters of the alphabet but still communicate, which they do remarkably well.

I'm about a third way through and finally starting to enjoy it.

Thank you for the review. I will borrow it from the library and will, hopefully, enjoy it.

Bit late to this thread but I loved The Dictionary of Lost Words. I understand the writer is Australian and this is her first book. She must have done a hell of a lot of research!

My next book club read and I am struggling to stay interested. But thank you, Bridie, I'll persevere now!
