I've just finished the Ann Cleeves final (so she says) Jimmy Perez book, audio. "The Return of Jimmy Perez". As good as the others but with a modern twist.

Why did they ruin the TV series with stupid story lines and a lead character who looked nothing like Jimmy 🥺

I don't know archealogyliz as it was so relevant that the way in which he was looked upon and treated by the other islanders developed his character but hey ho that's TV adaptations for you.

I felt the same, archaeologyLiz. Anyone less like the description of Jimmy Perez would have been difficult to find.

I enjoy reading the Ann Cleve books but I also loved Dougie Henshall as Jimmy Perez. I just see them as two different things really.

Like so many books that you read before watching the tv/film version, it’s disappointing when they hire an actor who in no way resembles the character.

If you watch before reading the book, then the character is already in your mind.
