Jimmy Perez

I recently finished reading “The Killing Stones” where Jimmy Perez has made a new life in Fairisle with a life partner who also seems to be his professional equal, and a small child. It’s an interesting pairing, and I couldn’t help but feel his character is somewhat diminished since he left Shetland. He seems to be constantly questioning himself both as a detective and as a person. It was a very enjoyable book. I also like Douglas Henshall as Perez.

archaeologyliz isn’t Kenny Blyth the most wonderful narrator of the books too?

Like so many books that you read before watching the tv/film version, it’s disappointing when they hire an actor who in no way resembles the character.

If you watch before reading the book, then the character is already in your mind.

I enjoy reading the Ann Cleve books but I also loved Dougie Henshall as Jimmy Perez. I just see them as two different things really.

I felt the same, archaeologyLiz. Anyone less like the description of Jimmy Perez would have been difficult to find.

I don't know archealogyliz as it was so relevant that the way in which he was looked upon and treated by the other islanders developed his character but hey ho that's TV adaptations for you.
