OP, that sounds quite an onerous enough job to me.
and out in the middle of nowhere; very isolating.
the idea that a woman alone would regard the prospect of walking in woods as anything other than to be avoided, sounds ridiculous to me.
i'm glad she had that much sense to try to keep herself safe.
it really does not sound like an attractive position at all, even by the standards of such jobs.
