Hello all, I am new here and it was so great to find your forum because I have felt so alone and isolated.

I came out of hospital sometime ago and while the carers were wonderful (paid for by my children from a private agency eventually) the local authority Social Services were a nightmare and neglected me to the point that I will never trust them again.

Eventually a journalist became interested and published my story. I am going to post a link but trigger warning it involved sexual and other violence.

www.mylondon.news/news/west-london-news/elderly-london-woman-raped-after-31946194

(The link might need to be copy and pasted into the Internet).

Now the Social Services involved have retaliated against me because when I rang up to check that they were delivering the promises they made in public (they weren't) I was told that I was banned from ringing them up because mentioning my abuse "upset" people so they had to "safeguard" their employees! I have been banned for a year and told to email - then they stopped all of my emails from going through to the extent that my GP had to get involved.

I am being punished for speaking out after they abused me and I am now planning on going to Switzerland rather than ever live in a Care Home here.

I'd rather go home to God than live in Hammersmith and Fulham with their "free" Social Care.

Oh you poor poor woman.

I g oogled seperately rather than click on a link.
Just me. I am careful what I click on, online.

I am not sure exactly what to say.

The "safeguard their employees" rang a bell with me.

I am involved in something voluntarily.
The effective Head Office is effectively "safeguarding" the wrong people. Is what the majority of us involved, think.

As things are ongoing with SS you may be better not putting it on a public forum Just a thought

Have you contacted your local MP or spoken to Age UK and/or Citizen's Advice.

When people like Social Services try to shut you up, you need to shout louder, not just about what happened at the time, but about what has happened since.

After what has happened to you I think you may need a solicitor to support your case. I appreciate that this may be beyond your finances, but some solicitors take on 'pro bono' work. Work for free because the particular case has wider repercussions.

You need to contact the charity www.lawworks.org.uk/ and/or probonoconnect.co.uk/case-studies/ .

Whilr, obviously, we cannot get directly involved with the terrible thing that happened to you and its direct consequences. We can provide a metaphorical shoulder for you to cry on and compassionate listeners when you want to vent.

I totally agree with your opinion of Social Services. I had run ins with them when looking after relations. Someone was discharged from hospital with a frame round the loo, but no means of getting out of the chair the ambulance men put her in and no walking frame to enable her to get there and no carer due to visit for 6 hours. Small problem compared with what happened to you.
