Non slip shower mats

Has anyone suggestions for decent shower mats? I bought two Magic mats for my husband to use in the shower but over time they have become mouldy despite being expensive and despite trying to clean them, I am ready to throw them out.

I bought one from Amazon it has suckers and I’ve had it probably 3/4 yrs so far but it’s still like new. You have to pick it up and either hang it to dry or as I do roll it and stand on its end to dry off. I spray it with the shower cleaner when I clean the shower so far it’s stayed looking like new.

I buy the plastic ones with suckers from Dunelm or any supermarket, once they start to discolour, about 3 - 4 months, I buy a new one.

I bought this one several months ago from Amazon. It's very sturdy, and like the one tanith has, it can be folded and stood on its end to dry out. Cleans easily and it can also be cut to size if necessary. Best shower mat I've had. (sorry for the long link)

I bought a rubber one from Argos or Dunelm a couple of years ago. It said it could be machine washed so I tend to throw it in the washer with towels and floor mats.

Very recently I bought non slip sliders to use in the shower. They were from Amazon.
Much safer, I think, than shower mats. I'm completely satisfied with mine.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 08-Jan-26 10:18:56

Our shower has a non slip floor. No mats needed.

Here's a picture of my sliders.

long rubber mat with suckers from Boots - after use I sling it over the rail I had put up in the shower, or on sunny days in Summer I hurl it over the washing line so no mould can form

Aldom these sliders look chic, but how do you wash between your toes?
don’t respond if you think this question is just too personal!

Grantanow Thu 08-Jan-26 13:08:01

Aren't they open-toed?

I use a waffle-weave cotton teatowel, one of several which I bought years ago but discarded as not being as good for drying dishes as the linen ones. Once it is wet it clings to the shower base and doesn't slide around. After the shower it gets wrung out and hung over the grab rail, and it is washed with the towels - having several means there is no pause while the washed one dries.. It never gets dirty-looking or mouldy.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I have ordered the mat that AskAlice kindly sent a link to. This is a great forum!

Same here, we bought them in Madeira some years ago and they’re very useful, much easier as well than trying to keep a rubber mat mould free, they are always a nightmare.

Sores the sliders allow water to cover the feet. They're open at the front and sides. I also slip them off, one at a time, for safety, to pay attention to my toes.
I certainly hadn't thought of the sliders as chic. grin. Just safe. smile

Thanks AskAlice. That looks good and I see you can use it in the bath as well as the shower. Off to measure up.

Our shower has a non slip floor. No mats needed.

So is ours but we added sucker type mats for added safety.
The shower room was installed last Spring and the installer told us all new shower trays are non slip now. I have noticed that even a few drops of shampoo or shower gel on the tray and it is slippy which if you have poor mobility could be dangerous so we play safe.

I use a small towel which when its wet does not slip , I then pop it into the laundry

Ours is non slip too but the minute shampoo or shower gel are used it gets slippy as hell.

I just use a rubber one, about £7 from Boots IIRC. Our shower is over the bath, though, so maybe different. It’s our 3rd - first 2 went mouldy underneath after I forgot to hang them over the side of the bath before going away.

We got one off amazon, it was called a loofah shower mat and has been great. We always stand it up after a shower and let it drain and dry out a bit. Have had it a few years now and washed the non slip side when power washing the garden, still good, and would replace it with same one if we needed to.

AuntieE Sat 10-Jan-26 14:04:45

You can wash the plastic ones on a 30 degree cycle in your washing machine when they start to look water stained.

Marjgran Sat 10-Jan-26 14:05:08

Ikea rubber ones. Replace every two years - unlike plastic ones they will rot away in landfill not last for 1000 years!

We have this one from Ikea. Easy to hang up after use to avoid mould.

My DH bought one for the shower over our bath, tried to adjust it whilst standing on it and promptly fell out of the bath! I just heard the noise and flew upstairs to find him climbing up from the floor looking suitably embarrassed, but fortunately not hurt
