Sorry to hear that CarrotTop and especially for the way you were treated in A&E🤬 I have personal experience of that recently which mirrors yours.
Have you seen your old GP yet to tell him/her of your distressing ailment?
It’s understandable that you feel a sense of impending doom as you need to be well to take care of your DH and run things.
This episode has brought this home to you.
All I can offer is to be kind to yourself💐

I have no experience of these feelings, but I didn’t want to read and run. I am so sorry that these things have happened to you both. I do hope things get better, physically and mentally for you both. Life can be very hard at times, sending hugs.

I haven't posted for a while but maybe if this helps here goes. I know exactly how you are feeling. My life has been tough as many are. I thought things would now be ok. How silly of me.

Last month, on holiday, fortunately not far from home, I fell top to bottom down a flight of very steep stairs. Fortunately no bones broken but a severely cut head. The blood was unbelievable. I was taken by ambulance to A&E. They were wonderful there but the experience has left me traumatised.

I lost all my hair some years ago and wear a hair system. I have always dreaded something happening to my head and my system having to come off. My DH used to say 'stop worrying about things that will never happen' and yet there I was, hair system off, it and me soaked in blood, humiliated and scared. My husband had never seen me without my hair system. It was horrendous. I am still in shock and I know that doomy feeling you describe. I have had many horrible things happen but this awful feeling of dread and shock won't go away. I hope things improve for you.

Sorry to be a pain when I know so many of you are just as up against it as I am with a dependent DH. Lots of you have helped me so much when I asked for advice a while ago, for which I'm very grateful.
On Weds evening, my DH called the ambulance to me - I don't remember it but apparently I was delirious and making no sense, with a huge headache. I thought it was just a migraine but the pattern was different and I haven't been "odd in the head" before. Had a 4-hour wait outside A&E, then taken in, had a canula fitted and sent back outside again for another half hour. Finally spent 8 hours lying on a trolley before being sent home again. Nothing offered to eat or drink, given painkillers (by nurses - didn't spot a single doctor anywhere) and sent home at 7am. I had to call a taxi myself - heaven knows how I did that as I was still fuzzy in the bonce.
Long story short (that'll be the day), I'm left with an over-riding sense of doom. As you may recall, it's just us two - no family, no friends left alive or within travelling distance, and obviously I'm unable to drive for a while.
How do others cope with this awful sense of dread that's come over like a black cloud?
I feel as though I ought to crack a joke just to lighten this up a bit, but I can't think of one...
