When I first posted about this, quite a few members said they would be happy to donate, let's hope they still are.

The appointment is booked, my dear hairdresser (who at first was refusing to do it!) has agreed to come out on Tuesday 7th August at 3.30 and do it during work afternoon tea break.

Nice compromise, I think, between doing it very publicly, i.e in a pub etc, or just nipping off to have it done alone.

My workmates and the students know the real reason behind it although I am also thinking of my god daughter, Annie, who was widowed with a 6 year old son in her early thirties, when her husband died of cancer of the spine.
