The above charity has an appeal for Ukraine. If you 'Google' DEC you will find the site. British Government will match your donation pound for pound up to £20 million pounds. I have donated to DEC before and they seem good at getting the money to where it is needed.

We are selling sunflower packs next week. I’ve posted on here so that I can find the information again easily.

Just wondering why sunflowers?

Also I have increased my regular donation to MSF. I think they are amazing.

Who ever said that the Russians can simply put their guns down and walk away. It’s not a democracy, no free choice. Their families if not shot, would go to labour camps or if they are lucky prison, a Russian prison is one your not likely to get out of . Conscription is coming in there soon. Putin has stopped any news or tv programmes from outside world he has isolated them, they are victims like the Ukraines are. He’s had all protesters taken off the streets and sent to labour camps, for speaking the truth, imagine what would happen to a soldier. They won’t have enough food soon either. They will need aid.

I heard something novel on the radio this morning. A British woman has booked an Air b&b in Kiev fir Sunday night.
She is obviously not going but it provides a Ukrainian woman with money in her account to use as needed. It’s random I know but it was personal and direct and they have exchanged messages since,

Only a few months ago my dh visited Lviv with his elder brother. They stayed in a hotel, not an AirBnb, and thoroughly enjoyed their visit - I will mention this to him since he might well like to do the same.

DEC has raised 55 million in just a day. A great achievement.
The government only matches up to 20 million.

I too have donated via DEC, simply because of the government match funding. Thanks for the heads-up.

Cross post!

DannieRae, I’ve found a form you fill in and send with a cheque, if that helps.
They don’t seem to have an option for anyone who doesn’t have both internet and printer!

A relative of mine wants to send a cheque to the Red Cross Ukraine Appeal but I can't find where to send it. Can anyone advise me, please?

Darn it, I donated to the Red Cross two days ago, before the matched funding was announced. Though perhaps it’ll apply to donations already made as well? ?

My charity of choice normally, it was just the matching promise which made me change.
Ah well, I have another pile of stuff to take to the Red Cross shop in the clear out.
I hope that every little helps.

Red Cross and DEC. Our town is sending lorries too. Donations are amazing.

Callistemon21 Fri 04-Mar-22 17:00:52

A friend has asked for us to donate to a charity of choice rather than have birthday presents.
I donated to the DEC as it encompasses so many different charities. The Red Cross is one and is working in Ukraine.

Sara1954 Fri 04-Mar-22 16:57:25

I’ve donated through the Red Cross.
The children had Mufti today, and although they were asking for their usual pound, many children were taking in five and ten pound notes.
