Has anybody tried these. I was at a music festival last weekend, and thought I would give it a 'go'. You are given this tiny paper cone and written instructions. You must have a good aim and not panic. Well obviously my aim was not good and I panicked!!! Never again.

Exactly, this device appears to be the perfect answer to outdoor pursuits.

Once, when I was young, I was driving my parents through the Aberdare Mountains in Kenya. There were no comfort stations in that wild area and the bushes might harbour snakes or scorpions. There was nothing for it but to squat behind the car while my parents averted their eyes. The VW Beetle had very neat twin tail pipes and unfortunately I got too close to one of these. It was red hot. I got branded on my behind with a nice little circle. My dad nearly died laughing! wink
Still don't fancy a sheewee in spite of my adventures with ticks and Beetles.

Don't I know it, both legs with me.

yogagran Fri 22-Jul-11 22:31:52

The instructions said to practice in the shower, but being me - I couldn't wait (so to speak) and tried in the loo, what a strange experience! I now know how men feel when they pee! Admittedly I had to change my pants for dry ones but I shall persevere and things are bound to improve. Which reminds me - I must ring my DD who is potty training her daughter at the moment.
I can see the advantages when faced with nasty dirty toilets and when you're out in the woods but I think I'll stick to what I know best thank you!

jangly Sat 23-Jul-11 09:16:43

I think its when the panic sets in that things go wrong.

yogagran Sat 23-Jul-11 10:54:30

Success! It's easy grin Only problem is that ladies trousers and jeans don't have a zip as low and long as mens trousers so you still have to drop them past your bum, but it'll solve the problem of smelly, dirty loos

groovygranny Sat 23-Jul-11 14:08:45

Well done yogagran! Perseverance usually pays off, practise makes perfect etc etc!! smile

These gadgets are WONDERFUL! Useful in so many situations - I have had them for years, keep one in the car, never go travelling abroad without one and have given them to many of my friends and recommended them to many more. Use them when peeing in the countryside, on the edge of roads, in dirty public loos, foot-pad loos still found on the continent, and terrifying foreign loos (star occasion was a long-drop loo in China which was just a plank with holes at intervals.) Invaluable for those who (like me) have back problems - no squatting and then being unable to get up again!

Practice in the shower until you get the hang of it. Hurrah for the She-Wee!

jangly Sat 23-Jul-11 15:35:10

I have got one corner of my garden which I am pretty sure is not overlooked at all....

Hattie64 Sat 23-Jul-11 16:42:52

Do like I do, when in a hurry, have a wee behind the wheely bin.

Baggy Sat 23-Jul-11 22:16:24

Urine is very good for compost.

groovygranny Sat 23-Jul-11 23:35:14

You are absolutely right Baggy. My DH pees in the compost bin from time to time. Just hope he checks first that there are no neighbours around!

MumMum Sun 24-Jul-11 08:42:33

I've just found Gransnet thanks to the Times article! Have really chuckled at this chat! I've been wondering about whether to get one of these devices as I am going to Beijing by train from the UK soon, and I understand that the toilets are locked at border crossings......maybe for a couple of hours ! Think I'll need to take a suitable container as well wink

Elegran Sun 24-Jul-11 10:18:07

MumMum - the TravelJohn has an integrated container, with very absorbent crystals in it. I would buy both TJ and shewee, belt and braces, shewee for when you can aim it somewhere, TJ when you can't.

jangly Sun 24-Jul-11 10:50:39

Yes Baggy! My DH pees in the compost bin.

I don't think its because he's too lazy to take his shoes off and go upstairs.

hmm
