I wanted dear lord and father of mankind at my wedding , but was told it was for funerals, so I've bagged it for that!

iam64 whilst singing as a church congregation may be happening less, I'm sure that singing is very popular now. There are many new community and rock choirs springing up all over the country. To misquote ' the Church' doesn't have all the best tunes'.

Atqui my sister in law had Dear Lord and Father of Mankind at her wedding. But it did tickle me a bit as it goes on, "Forgive Our Foolish Ways"!

Lovely hymn though. One of my favourites.

A friend of mine wanted "Fight the good fight " at his wedding because he remembered singing it at school. He was persuaded that it was not appropriate though secretly he though it might be ! He does have a good sense of humour. grin

"How great thou art is my favourite hymn."
I know my mothers favourite was"O Jesus I have promised".
My granddaughter attended a special school and the children always sang "One more step along the road I go" which was very moving

Being brought up Methodist, my favourite is "And can it be.."

Both my Father and I are tone deaf but loved competing loudly and out of tune in the refrain smile and I know all the words by heart

As for today's young, my 12 year old would not know where to start with even the National Anthem or the Lord's Prayer, but knows all the top 20 hits. I'm sure we knew the latest hits as well as all the classics having them drummed into us at daily school assembly as well as church.
