As per the Stella McCartney thread I suggested this thread suggested by a Woody Allen character in Annie Hall. Who or indeed what in your opinion deserves a place in the HOTVOR.
Here are a few of mine to start off;

Stella McCartney
David Bowie
Tom Cruise

Dorset you should have started watching "Homeland" on Sunday nights, it is really good viewing.

Julian Fellows - writing all that rubbish - I daresay I'll be thumped but Downton was a load of unhistorical facts - made you want to be a servant? Didn't tell you about the awful pay and dreadful hours, how you could be dismissed at a moments notice without a reference for some piffling reason. Many a prostitute was once a sacked servant. Maggie Smith must have been just counting out her money as she was camping it up wonderfully. We are now being regaled with more of his rubbish Titanic - as for the new Upstairs, Downstairs dont get me started. Much gnashing of teeth may have to go and lie down for awhile.

Agree with you about Jonathan Ross Annobel used to like him, but talks too much about his own family, dogs, holidays, in fact anything about himself, he is always interrupting his guests. Don't watch him anymore, love Graham Norton now.

Carol Vordeman and Liz Hurley, both seem to rely on bosom exposure nowadays instead of any talent they might once have had.

Annobel Fri 30-Mar-12 18:27:34

Jonathan Ross - crude, laddish and unsubtle.

Anagram Fri 30-Mar-12 17:47:48

I feel the same way about Paris Hilton and Liz Hurley....

Tracey Emin, having seen her interviewed I quite like her as a person, but I don't understand her artistic appeal have seen some of her very ordinary sketches of birds that I'm sure a reasonably talented 11 year old could bang out, and don't get me started on the "unmade bed". However, Tracey for me pales into insignificance compared to the supremely overrated Victoria Beckham, she has got such a lot of mileage out of her little talent. I hate the constant stony staring at the ground when she obviously so loves being photographed, she puts herself out there like nobody else, her continual carping on about what a hard working fashion designing mother she is, at least Stella McCartney has bona fide credentials, albeit helped by a famous name, carrying her daughter around like a fashion accessory and her latest ludicrous claim that she has been slaving over a hot stove making sausage rolls for her childrens' school, yeah right! However, she was at least a Spice Girl once. My number one most overrated personality would have to be the non celebrity, famous only for a reality show, or a famous relative as personified by Kelly Osbourne usually seen posing hand on hip at some big event like the Oscars. Why?

Anagram Fri 30-Mar-12 15:17:27

Yes, he's so oily and self-regarding these days....

Annobel Fri 30-Mar-12 14:41:49

Stephen Fry is a professional smart-a**e. Sad because he really is clever and funny, but this is a long way from his role in Blackadder.

PRINTMISS Fri 30-Mar-12 14:41:04

What about things and people we quite like - I am a great fan of 'Pointless'. When I first watched it I was disgusted and said to my husband - 'OH! thats a pointless quiz' and he roared with laughter, of course it is, and don't Alexander and Richard have a great rappor.
I quite like QI, and although I agree Stephen Fry is a bit full of himself, there are times when the programme gets really interesting, when two intelligent members have a discussion (not the comedians who are undoubtedly clever, and do not need to be crude but very often are, to get a laugh, I suppose). That's my lot.

dorsetpennt Fri 30-Mar-12 14:20:44

Stephen Fry - used to like him but he's had too much exposure. Same with the programme 'House' I know people love it but it's just awful and Hugh Laurie's character is so over the top. Bruce Forsyth - time to retire old man - he is appearing in a one man show here - I know ain't it great he is a 100 years old and still dances etc. I hated him when I was young - he makes a joke and waits until everyone laughes even if it's not funny. The Brad/Angelina farce. They closed a paint 'your own pottery' shop near my son in Twickenham just because their darlings wanted to go in - buy your own for goodness sake. Or give your kids a settled life instead of parading them around the world. Oh God here I go ranting away like the old frt I am

syberia Fri 30-Mar-12 10:13:20
