....the ospreys' nest at Loch of the Lowes in Perthshire. The Lady, as they call her, is believed to be in her mid 20s and the oldest female osprey in Britain. She comes back to the same nest every year and has had a succession of mates. This year she has a rather handsome new toy boy who brings her fish from the nearby loch. Last year's eggs didn't hatch - better luck this time, Lady. The web cam is wonderfully sited to give a great view of their activities.

We've had these bookmarked for a while but goodness how we waste time in our house looking at birds on nests

I've just had a great view of the Lady turning over her three eggs and making them really cosy with moss. The first egg could hatch in about 10 days and the others perhaps two or three days later. Hope so.

Annobel, thanks so much for drawing our attention to this lovely experience. I am sending a donation to the people responsible for the webcam.

Saw mum feeding chick with dad standing guard. Loved the way chick staggered forward to peck a piece of fish for himself.

The osprey chick is huge now and well on the way to fledging. As an 'only child' it's bigger than average and fat too. It gets up on its feet and stretches its wings, practising for the day it takes off! I think they are hoping to ring it soon. I've enjoyed watching its progress - will miss it when it flies away.

I've been keeping an eye on the bald-headed eagles in the States - 3 babies who are now very big and flap around on the leading branches of their nest. They will soon fly and will miss them!

Osprey chick, now known as Blue 44, has been ringed and satellite tagged this week and is likely to fledge next week. The satellite tag is like a little backpack but doesn't seem to bother him - yes, he's a boy!

Just had a look Annobel. It's flippin' windy up there, isn't it? All looking good smile

Butty have you got a link to the bald eagles, please? I would love to see them. I was lucky enough to watch them flying around when I was in New England - they are magnificent smile
