jeni and I are flying to Lesbos and the weather will be warm and sunny.
We are going to a little place I know overlooking a bay. The gorgeous Greek waiter will place our table outside where we will have the best view of the little ships skimming across the waves. The sea will be very blue.
I am starting with a Buck's Fizz and jeni is having a diluted Pernod.
Suggestions please for starters, main course, dessert and drinks.
No chocolate for me!

It wasn't all beer and skittles - once my daughters decided they were bored with Monaco and went back to England, I sometimes got very lonely. There were lots of men, lots of wine and expensive meals, but it was all very shallow. I followed my girls back to England and started my own conveyancing business in Kent and when the law was changed I had a year in Brussels as a financial consultant. Again, every night was spent in a bar, restaurant or club. I hated the job and was lucky enough to be selected for the Civil Service fast-track graduate training scheme and became a tax inspector at the age of 50. Talk about poacher to gamekeeper. I had a studio flat on Lower Sloane Street and went to lots of singles' dinners and weekends. I went out with a lot of men but never came close to settling down.
When I retired in 1999, I decided I had had enough of that lifestyle and bought a dilapidated chalet in the Pyrenees. I gave up make-up, hair dye, contact lenses, high heels, push up bras and became a very happy hermit.

Goodnight!

Grannylin Sun 08-Apr-12 21:27:04

Maybe, but I bet you've never seen a 30 stone Fado singer in Lisbon!!!!!

jeni Sun 08-Apr-12 21:24:46

No way!
I've had quite a good life before I became so arthritic! I've never worked for a millionaire though, unless you count the civil service and government?
Are they millionaires?
I get the impression they are broke!

Grannylin Sun 08-Apr-12 21:16:50

I think Greatnan makes most of this up!How can she have done all this in one life...it makes us all SO boring!

jeni Sun 08-Apr-12 21:15:42

Be careful though. Do you have a lift? Remember I use crutches! Or is there a nice hotel near you?

Greatnan Sun 08-Apr-12 21:11:33

I am sure we do, jeni. You know where I live!

jeni Sun 08-Apr-12 21:06:55

Oh!
Greatnan! We must meet
We have the same tastes, I think!

Greatnan Sun 08-Apr-12 21:01:57

I enjoyed your company, but it was a bit embarrassing when you started drawing lots for Dimitri (and we know who cheated!).

I once went to Lisbon for a romantic weekend with a chap I met at a single's weekend. We met another couple at the hotel and decided to go to the Alto district which is very picturesque. A lady started singing Fado - she was about 30 stone and at least 65, and she was warbling about losing her young lover. We had had a fair bit to drink and the other woman and I got the giggles. I had to pretend to be crying with emotion as I was overcome by uncontrollable laughter.

Once, when I was helping out with Guides in the first school I taught in, the Captain told me to take a group aside and teach them map reading about which I was clueless, so I just asked the girls to tell me what they knew. A great teaching method - they taught each other!

jeni Sun 08-Apr-12 19:59:04

I want to go back to the sun!
Otherwise I will revert to avatar land

I'll float through my lovely skies
My lover by my side
And in his arms I'll softly die
But only in my dreamssad

glammanana Sun 08-Apr-12 19:55:35

Never mind then as long as I arrive back home safely I don't care which route I take.grin

jeni Sun 08-Apr-12 19:52:18

I like Barcelona. I didn't do geography. Took history instead. You could only do one or the other, although music and RE were compulsory.
Silly snobbish school in lich field?

glammanana Sun 08-Apr-12 19:52:11

annobel did I ever tell you I was useless at geography and map reading,i used to get lost on a girl guides hike confused

Annobel Sun 08-Apr-12 19:39:44

That's Spain, jeni. Seville for choice. Flamenco and all that. Sangria and tapas.

jeni Sun 08-Apr-12 19:37:03

We haven't been there yet, so they don't know about us!
Cor, think of gorgeous lithe sexy matadors and toreadors
Just call me Carmen!

Annobel Sun 08-Apr-12 19:32:56

We can invade Lisbon another time, glamma!

glammanana Sun 08-Apr-12 19:13:22

Oh I forgot we where going to Lesbos I thought it was Lisbon !!! how blonde am I ? Well I have enjoyed my lunch and the posh wines greatnan is the hostess with the mostest and we where spoilt, she arranged some nice entertainment with some plate smashing and dancing. I have dropped Dimitri off further down the coast on my way back,he was a bit clingy and wanted to come home with me but mr glamma would not understand how a handsome Greek bloke came to be visiting our house whilst he was out with DS2 for the afternoon.

Annobel Sun 08-Apr-12 18:42:20

Might have known! grin

jeni Sun 08-Apr-12 18:38:53

grin

Greatnan Sun 08-Apr-12 18:36:49

Bright sunshine in my bit of the Alps now (just South of Lake Geneva) - too late for me to go for a walk. After that big Greek meal, I am having a frugal supper.
Thank you all for your wonderful company - which of you kidnapped Dimitri?

jeni Sun 08-Apr-12 17:07:31

You hope! grin

Annobel Sun 08-Apr-12 17:04:18

In that case, I won't risk is. I will step aboard my personal transport and whizz myself home for a nice cup of Darjeeling. Flying over the Alps will clear my head.

jeni Sun 08-Apr-12 17:02:52

You what? You weren't so stupid as to let them know it was for GN were you?
You know we can't go to the same place twice, or anywhere theyve heard of us!hmm

Greatnan Sun 08-Apr-12 16:54:09

Definitely not, I had to give them a £10,000 deposit!
