Sometimes when I'm out and about I see an interesting woman of a certain age and wonder if she could be a Gransnetter. I was in London recently and kept bumping into someone who wore patterned leggings, an orange fleece and had short bright hair. She looked feisty (but all in the best possible taste). I even imagined a particular Gransnetter for that one.

Me I,m not worried what you look like. You are all interesting although the exchanges do let my imagination run riot at some of your replies. Oh I bet she's a leftie or I bet she hates all governments. She sounds like fun or I don't think we would get on.

As for me of you see a little, four eyed, fat bleach blonde woman who is as wide as she is tall then you have spotted me. My husband thinks it's great beacause my coffin could be the old box our washing machine has just been delivered in, totally square!Old miser he'll do anything not to spend money on me.

I was chatting to a lovely Lady when I was away in York and I imagined she was a Gransnetter, I don't know what I would have said to her hmm

At U3A Easter school, any number of women could have been Gransnetters, but there was no way of finding out. I had a chat to Maggie Smith about it, because she had done our web chat.

Perhaps we could have a discreet GN pendant or key fob? Although on second thoughts, not a pendant, it'd be like those name necklaces......

jeni Sun 08-Apr-12 18:10:40

A GN designed diamond necklace?

Anagram Sun 08-Apr-12 18:13:33

Yes! Free to every GN member! (HQ please take note - we would require very high quality diamonds)

jeni Sun 08-Apr-12 18:14:29

You get it on posting your profile and photo!

Annobel Sun 08-Apr-12 18:43:29

Failing that, we could always design a subtle tattoo - on the wrist perhaps?

"When I'm an old woman I shall wear purple with a red hat that doesn't go and doesn't suit, and I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves and satin sandals and say we have no money for butter..." I just love this poem by Jenny Joseph! grin

jeni Sun 08-Apr-12 18:52:26

It's a good one '-and learn how to spit!'

Anagram Sun 08-Apr-12 18:57:02

BUT...we won't adopt that habit as a way of recognising each other! grin

jeni Sun 08-Apr-12 18:58:22

Oh?hmm

Anagram Sun 08-Apr-12 19:08:44

Once a medical student always a medical student! I seem to remember that they were the most rambunctious bunch in the whole university in my day. Don't think they ever quite grow up.

Perhaps there should be a GN greeting which you could say when you see a potential GN who, if they were a GN, would then reply with a GN response!

Perhaps a new thread is needed to think of a greeting and rsponse!
