Recognising other Gransnetters

Sometimes when I'm out and about I see an interesting woman of a certain age and wonder if she could be a Gransnetter. I was in London recently and kept bumping into someone who wore patterned leggings, an orange fleece and had short bright hair. She looked feisty (but all in the best possible taste). I even imagined a particular Gransnetter for that one.

A funny handshake or a pinny!
I prefer a diamond necklace (free)

Anagram Sun 08-Apr-12 20:54:44

I'm not going round in a pinny! Got to keep some standards, jeni!
The trouble with funny handshakes is that if you started chatting to someone in the supermarket who you suspected might be a GNer, it would be a bit odd to offer to shake their hand, mid-conversation...

Suppose sosad
Back to the free necklacesgrin

Yesssss....!

They could give us a badge/ pin thing.

jeni Sun 08-Apr-12 21:08:30

With diamonds?

Anagram Sun 08-Apr-12 21:36:23

Good idea, Grannylin! After all, jeni a diamond necklace might look a bit ostentatious in Tesco Sainsbury's. A badge thing would be more discreet...(still diamond-encrusted, of course!).

Fine!
Geraldine! Are you listening?
Goodnight?

Anagram Sun 08-Apr-12 21:38:39

Goodnight, jeni!

Judging by your picture, you are my sort of woman especially as you are clutching a glass. I like classical music, Bones and NCIS too.

dizzyblonde Sun 08-Apr-12 21:51:42

Meant that post for Jeni. Must be the effect of wine. I'm not working tomorrow so am taking advantage of that.

jeni Sun 08-Apr-12 21:55:52

Where are you?

dizzyblonde Sun 08-Apr-12 21:59:37

North Hampshire, here's hoping, although I think you may be further north?

jeni Sun 08-Apr-12 22:16:20

N Somerset!

I`ll be in the Berwick-on Tweed area in the first half of August, if anyone`s going to be around there?

I could be wearing my crystal pussy, as ID.

I live in Cheshire, visit family in Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Dundee.

I like the idea of a discreet bit of jewellery, maybe a badge of some sort. I imagine a discreet nod and a wink in passing rather than big hugging and exchanging screen names. Then later if we wanted we could identify each other on Gransnet.

I quite like the mystery associated with Gransnetters not being fully known.

petallus Mon 09-Apr-12 08:43:52

We could have a pre-arranged signal indicating whether we wanted the hug or the nod smile

How about a car sticker we could then 'toot' and wave..would blue tooth find us in a crowded setting, have heard this can be used by singles seeking each other outxxxx

Anagram Mon 09-Apr-12 13:12:30

Not everyone has a car or blue tooth, though. It would have to be something all GNers could adopt.

greenmossgiel Mon 09-Apr-12 13:21:26

numberplease...'crystal pussy'...? Ahem!!? confused

numberplease Mon 09-Apr-12 15:13:23

Greenmossgiel, how could you, you`re shocking! I was talking, of course, about wearing my pretty crystal cat brooch in a prominent place, and now make something of that, you naughty girl, lol!!!
