I DID ask some time ago after the shamrock appeared if the rest of us could have a leek, a rose and a thistle - silence came the stern reply! Perhaps they could be permanent so we could use them to indicate our origins

Geraldine very helpfully made clear GN's netiquette policy, but made no mention of the pm. It just seems to me that if someone tells another person that they will pm them in reply to a query as to what has gone on, as opposed to just answering normally, then they are (possibly inadvertently) indicating that what they will say is less than complimentary. Could be wrong and am quite happy to be corrected.

nannym - I think you are finding something sinister where it doesn't exist. It could be that they just don't want to bore everyone by repeating on a thread what somebody has missed.

Of course one can always just send a pm without mentioning it on the open forum!

nannym just a quick note pm's I have pm'd people with information re personal medical stuff which is a bit to private to put on line if they are having similar problems and also I pm glass alot re school PTA and fundraising ideas which we share.

glammanana I fully understand why you should do that, and appreciate you taking the time to respond to my comment. I just don't understand why people feel the need to pm about a query as to what has been said previously in a thread.

I send pm's to anyone I want about anything I want - I don't think we have to justify them - they are there to be used.
