I've just come back to Gransnet and found all these wonderful messages of support and all your generous donations to St Columba's or your own local hospices. Thank you, thank you all, and thank you for the PMs of support that I have received.
It is at times like this that you discover how many good people there are in the world. We were not sure whether to book the larger or the smaller chapel at the crematorium yesterday, but went for the larger "in case". I'm glad we did, so many people came to pay their respects and say such nice things about him.
And I was not sure whether I wanted to stand and greet the congregation as they left, but I am so glad I did. Many had to be back at work or had other commitments to go to and were not able to come for the cuppa and sandwiches/cakes (or a tot of whisky) afterwards, so I would not have had the opportunity to thank them.
Now DD1 and her family have flown home, DD2 and DS are back to work, and I am alone in the home we shared for 45 years.
Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life.
