When I was in hospital many years ago, being sterilised, a lady in the next bed was married to a foreign gentleman. One visiting time, she was a bit weepy, he held her hand and said, "Never mind, no more white doctors," she looked at him, puzzled, asked what he meant, and it turned out he meant no more Dr.Whites! It made her laugh, and cheered her up no end!

I remember noticing once in Safeway that although there were signs aloft that said "tea, coffee, toilet rolls etc" there were no clues as to where to find "feminine hygiene products" I wonder if that is still the case in supermarkets. Must check.

Sorry, slightly off track but years ago I was with my dear old mum in the ladies toilets at a motorway service station. She was drying her hands under the blower and shouted out !Fancy selling sweets in a toilet!". Everyone looked around and I thought what the heck is she on about now. Then I saw the machine she was standing next to. Strawberry and Cream, Blackberry and Apple etc. You guessed it , it was a fruit flavoured CONDOM machine. Bless her I did'nt like to tell her.

I remember in the 60's my grandmother decided to be'modern' and open minded and asked for' a packet of Kotex for my grandaughter please' in the middle of a small busy chemist. Can you imagine me creeping out of the shop. I don't know if a younger man would be so embarrassed, remember your older driver would be due to his age. My son, and others, think nothing of picking up sanitary supplies for his wife. Times have changed. Oh and I've seen young women buy condoms without any embarrassment at all.

Oh groan, don't mention condoms. I used to shop for them in a cut-price shop because you could pile them in the basket with toothpaste etc. One day I got to the till and the girl stood up and shouted to the back of the shop " are the coloured, ribbed condoms the same price as the normal ones?" blush
