Up early for another willow weaving day. Hoping to make a little willow bark basket for my granddaughter to carry at the wedding. smile

Soop one of the few advantages of growing older! Enjoy your cuddles.
jeni my No.2 son, obviously many years ago now, used to put himself into a comfy corner and go to sleep. Probably thinking Mum would be there when he woke up. This was at a playgroup, I stopped sending him. Sadly, these days Mums don't have much choice. I'm sure things will be fine, little ones usually settle. Hope all goes well.

jeni Mon 11-Jun-12 18:32:34

OGM I do hope so! I never realised I would worry so much about my family!

Again spent a lot of time on trains today. Train I was to get from Sandhurst was cancelled (flooding, I think) so I missed my connection at Reading and had to wait until the next train to Mancs. That was so slow that it arrived in Stockport 20 minutes late which made me miss my bus with the next one an hour and a half away. Cut my losses and ordered a taxi. But I did have a lovely weekend which included a big family party for niece-in-law's 50th - lovely to see all the in-law family all of whom are still good friends. My ex lives abroad so there's no risk of seeing him and his missus. grin

soop remember to wave at me on your way past down to London, enjoy your time will the wee man,I have had Luke staying for two days mr.g and him have been watching the football together and although I am not a fan it is lovely to hear them chatting together whilst they watch the games.smile

JessM Mon 11-Jun-12 18:43:49

Jeni it sounds like this worrying has taken you unawares - perils of grandmotherdom? The "I want to make it better and I can't" thing that we go through with our "grown up" kids?
Painful isn't it.
Keep reminding yourself that they are all fit and well. They will sort this out.

Annobel Mon 11-Jun-12 18:44:34

Agree - soop - I have used my railcard a lot in the past year because I just get too tired when I drive long distances. Here we buy them through the council and get a discount. Going to Scotland on Transpennine trains I usually get a good deal on a first class seat - not the most comfortable in the world, but more leg room and free refreshments. I hope you will have a wonderful time with the wee man. Not so many cuddles when they get bigger, but still a joy to be with. 9-year-old DGD still likes a big hug, but (bigger) younger brother is noticeably less cuddly nowadays. sad

jeni Mon 11-Jun-12 18:52:06

I never expected to be a gran! I worry about my kids all the time. If my hair wasn't already snow white?

Oh! Does this mean I'll go bald as well?confused

Gally Mon 11-Jun-12 19:16:22

Jeni !! I've been white since my 30's - the result of having 3 daughters I suspect grin
soop have a wonderful time - when are you going?
I have made progress with my tooth problem: my opposite neighbour is a consultant at the dental hospital, specialising in root treatment, so I bit the bullet ([grin)] and asked him for help; he sent me for an x-ray today and wants to see me at the hospital on wednesday - gosh, I feel soooo relieved. It pays to have contacts 'in the business'.

glammanana Mon 11-Jun-12 19:28:39

gally ask your lovely neighbour does he want to move opposite me I could do with a good consultant this abcess of mine is not getting any better,I had some relief for a few days but it has returned with a vengence the antibiotics just don't seem to be touching the problem.Oh woe is me !!

Gally Mon 11-Jun-12 19:49:29

Oh dear that sounds awful Glamma - you could always come and stay here - I used to do B&B! His wife is a specialist in roots too, so we could have one each! grin

Annobel Mon 11-Jun-12 19:53:42

glamma, my sister has had similar problems with a root canal - the inexperienced dentist left a bit of nerve in when she cleaned it out and sister ended up at the local dental hospital where the prof was a friend's SiL. She got the best treatment there.

glammanana Mon 11-Jun-12 19:57:12

Thanks so much gally the offer is appreciated,I am booked into see a orthodontist on 13th July the lady I see said I have to get rid of the swelling and have a drain first so not looking forward to that one bit,I wish I could have a general anethestic and be put to sleep and wake up all hunky dorey, fat chance of that me thinks. All this so I look good at my pals wedding you would think all the trouble I'm going to that I was the bride !!!

harrigran Tue 12-Jun-12 14:59:19

Been awake most of the night with burning pain in my foot and a sore hip. Got up at 6.30 and got ready to go and see GP. I have strained the long ligament that runs from hip to outside of knee, how did I do that ? no injury that I can recall. I am going on holiday tomorrow of course just to complicate things. Cheeky DH told me to ask GP if I could borrow a wheelchair.

Annobel Tue 12-Jun-12 15:10:43

Ouch, harri. Did you turn over in bed the wrong way? I hope you can manage to enjoy your holiday despite the pain. Presumably the GP gave you some anti-inflammatories?

Jacey Tue 12-Jun-12 15:16:49

Have a good holiday harrigan ...in spite of the injury ...you must stop kicking OH in your sleep!!

glassortwo Tue 12-Jun-12 16:12:55

harrigran Tue 12-Jun-12 21:41:05

This holiday is a relaxing self catering break and then visiting DD in Brussels for a few days, no walking involved unless I want to. See you all on July 4th.

jeni Tue 12-Jun-12 21:44:58

Enjoy,harri

Night all!

Annobel Tue 12-Jun-12 22:00:19

Let's hope you come back with your leg completely better, harri. Have a good time.

Ariadne Tue 12-Jun-12 22:28:34

Do hope it gets better, Harri!

AlieOxon Wed 13-Jun-12 08:55:39

Good travelling soop and Harri! sunshine

Today I've been looking out of the window and thinking 'Wow the sun is out!'
- time to get in the garden and sort out my beans.
and
hoping that my daughter is ok after yesterday when she insisted that she was well enough to go to my little grandson's new big school (for next term) for an interview and to get measured for school uniform
(rubbing thumb and finger together emoticon, for expensive - now there's an idea....).

After which she wanted to go to shop...so we did - but thank goodness there were two sons to help carry stuff from the car.

soop Wed 13-Jun-12 11:46:02

Thanks AlieOxon...I've a little over a fortnight to wait. Always get excited well in advance. smile Love your suggestion for "expensive emoticon".

Thinking of you harri and Glamma...get well soon. flowers

Grannylin Wed 13-Jun-12 20:47:22

Can't believe what I've done today! DD2 has had a long spell on nights and claims she hasn't seen the sun for a month so when it sort of came out today she suggested the two of us went to the beach.....for a swim! Got there and she produced her wetsuit....while I plodded into the v.cold water in swimsuit and swam.To tell the truth it was very invigorating and she was very proud...'not many 62 year olds would do that Mum!' The things you do to pretend you still can grin
