Clothes with logos

Am I alone in hating clothes with logos or pictures printed on them? Trying to find a nice plain T-shirt for children is almost impossible - they all have TV characters etc on them.
And lots of adult clothes do too.
I avoid them like the plague.

No I hate them too. My daughter found it almost impossible to find baby clothes without pictures or logos on them, and the problem seems particularly bad for little boys. Apparently even newborn boys seem to want clothes with cars, trains, astronauts or cartoon characters on them. angry

My GS does wear clothes with pictures now he is getting older but my daughter is still very selective about what pictures/ patterns are acceptable and I have to say I agree with her.

I agree! I was requested by DD to find a couple of plain green T-shirts for the girls to wear when performing in a school production (caterpillars!), and I just could not find a single plain T-shirt for girls. After a tip-off from another parent I ended up buying boys T-shirts in a rather pale green - saved the day, but so frustrating!

I refuse to walk around wearing a top covered in hearts or glitter! I have a T-shirt I wear in the garden which states "Still Glamorous", but I wouldn't go to the supermarket wearing it! grin

I intensely dislike logos and cartoon characters on clothing, though must admit to an old but loved jacket with a very discrete Nike 'swoosh', bought in a John Lewis sale many years ago. Some of the slogans on t-shirts for little boys are downright distasteful - 'lock up your daughters' was seen on a top for a five-year-old. I don't find that funny.

I have an aversion to logos, slogans and fancy "stuff" on tops. I agree with Annobel that some t-shirts for babes and young children are odious and inappropriate.

I dont like the logos either or the ones proclaiming ''I AM HOT'' or ''SEXY CHIC''
or the sweatshirts with 73 on them one day somed day I will be but until then, and anyone can see I am indeed A HOT SEXY CHIC grin

No do not like logos and too many pictures but almost impossible to find plain tops for kids. Am sure we are not the only few who think this but they always tell us the market is driven by demand. I think they lie!

I used to have one in my sailing days. It was Garfield, and said
"I'm not overweight, I'm under tall!"

JessM Sat 19-May-12 14:58:04

No under sail jeni smile
I agree
kids clothes embellished to death. yuk. Plainer ones in places like sainsbury's - cheap packets of 3.
The whole logo for older folks thing is a scam - conning customers into becoming walking advertisements!

glammanana Sat 19-May-12 16:22:14

Landsend do fab plain t-shirts and polo shirts for little ones they are that bit more expensive but they wash and wash and keep their shape,Luke aged 8 is wearing some that belonged to his elder brother so DD is very pleased with the initial expenditure. For everyday sports t-shirts sainsburys is good and I think you can get 3 in a pack for £5.00 ?

We have a second hand pushchair that says Little Horror on it - it is almost encouraging them to be naughty.

It is heartening that others feel the same - I do not feel so much like a grumpy old bat now.

It is ironic that items with no logos etc are more expensive!

nanachrissy Sat 19-May-12 16:52:46

I've spent two days this week trying to find good quality T shirts in plain colours with no luck at all. M&S used to be the place to get them but now it's the same junk as everywhere else. I will have a look at Landsend.

JessM Sat 19-May-12 17:44:14

Yes the t shirts that imply boys naughty and girls little princesses are the last straw!

Mamie Sun 20-May-12 08:20:11

It is even worse in France, where they write meaningless phrases in "English". DH bought a pair of plain pyjamas and then opened the packet and found that they had "NO RISK" in large letters across the front of the shorts....

Amazon sell "Fruit of the loom" plain t shirts in lots of colours and sizes. I have bought them for GC and they're really nice quality. Just go to Amazon.co.uk and put in a search for "t shirt"

Also can be lucky in Hennes kids if you have one nearby! But thanks for the other suggestions. Will get looking!

H and M are excellent design, price and quality, and have lots of plain ones.

Gosh - someone must have tried very hard to post an unacceptable message on such a benign topic!! - but maybe it was a bit of advertising.

Bags Mon 21-May-12 12:17:30

It was an advertisement.

redolly Mon 21-May-12 12:48:34

no i wasnt advertising my own gallery is at minimal profit % the company i use gets pretty much all the money.

as an Aspergic artist even my friends have said id be happy watching grass for a living and still find it interesting over exciting and be able to write mountains about it, trying to relax into my own personality is still difficult

this probably also goes into the fact that i absolutely HATE most slogans and logo's ~ and also a coincedence that i had a conversation with my fiance last night on this subject.
i asked him 'why do so many people like cartoons and silly pictures ~ the answer was because it's easy !
tacky items are a release from reality harmless fairy tales and un' offensive .. they're easy to wear ..
But personally i like beautiful art .. originality ... & something meaningful !

Bags Mon 21-May-12 14:25:27

It was advertising. The link took one to a page where things were for sale. How much profit is made is beside the point.

Anne58 Mon 21-May-12 14:38:48

I have one T shirt with anything on it. It shows a falling cat with fur standing on end, all claws extended and a panic stricken look on it's face. The slogan reads..."I am perfectly calm"

As regards things with names splashed across them Timberland, Dolce & Gabbana etc, why on earth should I be expected to pay a silly amount of money to act as a walking billboard?

redolly Mon 21-May-12 20:49:20

i apologise for putting a link forward that exampled a selection of alternatives to slogans which also included sales - rather than saying the name of the company like others have above .. i personally prefer beautiful art on t'shirts if i was to buy one than to h&m
