Why do people ignore me?

Why is it that everyday people ignore me
going past without seeing me
favouring my neighbour instead of me
have I a large proboscis
is there a large pustule on my forehead
dripping ooze.

It's so annoying I cannot connect
with my human race
I have humour by the bucketful
perhaps people want to be sad
ignore me though at your peril
I'm more daring than some
for I have a gun.

Ian ...you have a gift. Well done.

soop Sun 20-May-12 13:53:42

I have orders to rest my newly restored hip. I shall return and hope to find that Ian has shared more of his peaceful poetry with us.

glammanana Sun 20-May-12 14:15:12

Such nice words from Ian you rest for a while soop and take care so glad someone is giving you orders to slow down a wee bit,I feel so much better to-day the mouth seems to have calmed down and the swelling gone down considerably so am in the process of spring cleaning the bedroom, marigolds at the ready for attacking all the white furniture which is looking a little "off" now the sun is shining through the window.

jeni Sun 20-May-12 14:40:52

My marigolds aren't out yet? They are very good at fending off greenfly I gather

Ariadne Sun 20-May-12 15:39:28

These are not at all "lighthearted". They show a real effort to craft and structure poetry, which you haven't demonstrated before

Ian42 Sun 20-May-12 16:55:29

Thankyou. I enjoyed writing them.

soop Sun 20-May-12 17:01:03

Ian I enjoyed reading them. They show a tender, sensitive side to your nature. I read both poems aloud to my husband. He agreed. I hope that you will share similar poems with us in due course. It's so good to end my day on GN on a very pleasant note. So, from me to you...THANK YOU smile

soop Sun 20-May-12 17:07:25

...and now I'm off to read the paper...so, a virtual crescent moon to you all and thanks for sharing.

greenmossgiel Sun 20-May-12 19:38:55

A virtual crescent moon to you, too, soop. smile I hope you'll be looking out on a (real) glorious Kintyre sunset before that, though! flowers xx

soop Mon 21-May-12 10:52:28

green...when I return from the shops, I shall upload last night's sunset [if it's good enough!] sunshine and smile

soop Mon 21-May-12 12:49:10

Sunset photos uploaded! smile

Anagram Mon 21-May-12 12:58:47

envy soop - how glorious!

Annobel Mon 21-May-12 13:11:19

soop smile There's nothing like a West of Scotland sunset. I was brought up with the sun setting behind Arran and I do miss that, even now. Somewhere I have some lovely shots of sunsets over the Cuillins, taken long ago. Maybe I will post them if I can find them.

soop Mon 21-May-12 13:36:07

Anagram and Annobel thank you. I shall take a look at old sunsets and upload the best of the crop smile

soop Mon 21-May-12 14:26:26

Ian Any more inspirational poetry to share with us? I look forward to it smile

glassortwo Mon 21-May-12 14:55:08

soop gorgeous envy

greenmossgiel Mon 21-May-12 19:44:41

soop - glorious! sunshine

numberplease Mon 21-May-12 21:18:46

My apologies right now Soop, I`m not trying to compete, but I`ve just uploaded 2 of my own Kintyre sunset pics, I have a few more, but not as good as yours. xx

Why do potential employers and agencies ignore me?

Why is that they cannot see my worth
Favouring those with degrees instead of those with experience
Have I no life skills, people skills, empathy?
I submit my CV, with covering letter
I explain who and what I am, what I can bring to the role and offer them,

It is so frustrating that many do not even reply, even to say "thanks, but no thanks"

I have skills, humour, empathy and more, and yet I am overlooked,
Perhaps employers would rather take on the callow youths, who have little concept of loyalty, responsibility and ethics.

It is so annoying that I seem unable to connect with these people, if indeed "people" they are, by some I do not seem worthy of even the shortest of replies, I have skills, I DO have something to offer,
But beware, I have an internet connection, and your impoliteness and lack of common courtesy might be mentioned on social media sites, as that seems one way to get your attention.

(With apologies and thanks to Ian42

phoenixare you ok?

Ariadne Mon 21-May-12 22:09:11

phoenix can we help? xx

gracesmum Mon 21-May-12 23:05:53

I think many of us can empathise with your plea phoenix - I think it needs a wider audience- like the CEO's of certain firms and recruitment agencies? Also maybe the Letters page of a variety of newspapers and magazines.
Good luck, it's clearly tough flowers

soop Tue 22-May-12 10:39:55

numberplease I loved looking at your photos. Am I right in thinking that your sunsets are over Gigha? When will you be coming this way? flowers

soop Tue 22-May-12 10:43:19

phoenix I feel your frustration. Life can seem so unfair. Try not to lose your sense of purpose. It matters that you remain positive. ((hugs))

Bez Tue 22-May-12 11:24:10

Oh Phoenix - there are so many in your position. - my stepson who is a very hard worker used to get so down about it all - he did finally get a job but like so many on minimum wage and he doesn't really like the job and they are not treated well but he says it is better than being on the dole.

This age thing is bad too - maybe employers think they can get away with more with a younger employee - and from what I can see nothing like enough credit is given to people's experience. This is happening in all jobs. DD was a manager in a recruitment agency and is now doing a completely different job at half the money as so many agencies have gone to the wall or greatly cut down on size. She said it was dreadful and very stressful seeing all these people who were well qualified but she knew she had no job for them or no prospect of one coming shortly.

I do wish you all the luck you deserve and the hope something suitable comes along soon.
