Why do people ignore me?

Why is it that everyday people ignore me
going past without seeing me
favouring my neighbour instead of me
have I a large proboscis
is there a large pustule on my forehead
dripping ooze.

It's so annoying I cannot connect
with my human race
I have humour by the bucketful
perhaps people want to be sad
ignore me though at your peril
I'm more daring than some
for I have a gun.

Well done, *Biker!

Hunt Sun 20-May-12 09:56:51

Is the poem ,maybe, about Brevik?

Annobel Sun 20-May-12 10:00:42

biker grin grin.
Hunt - Sounds about right!

whenim64 Sun 20-May-12 10:19:15

If it's about Brevik, he has asserted that his crimes were justifiable in order to prevent his country being over-populated with immigrants, but the poem appears to say this loner wants revenge for being ignored? I wonder if the OP just likes to provoke?

absentgrana Sun 20-May-12 10:37:18

Is Brevik defined by his bucketfuls of humour? Surely not.

Is this supposed to be a poem or is it just stray thoughts broken up erratically?

Ariadne Sun 20-May-12 10:43:51

absent grin

There was a poem by Roger McGough about a teacher walking into a classroom and systematically shooting the pupils. - a well constructed poem too. But, after Dunblane, it became suddenly unamusing.

Just saying..

I'm still confused so I guess Ian42 will be "well-pleased". Ian why not make a trip to Speakers' Corner...

Ian42 Sun 20-May-12 12:12:51

Not ignoring me now, however I found the replies rather laughable. How do you like being ignored are some of you former bullies. I hate bullying as a kid I was bullied horrendously and it scars for life. No I have never owned a gun, and personally they should be banned permantly. How do you get to be liked. If you met me you would be quite impressed really, I am quite a likeable chap. Hopefully I may like you.
All the best

Ugh!

soop Sun 20-May-12 12:17:35

Ian42 Thank you for the flowers smile brew it's those gestures that suggest you are indeed likeable. grin

whenim64 Sun 20-May-12 12:25:48

Quote 'How do you like being ignored are some of you former bullies.' Are you addressing that to the Gransnetters who responded to your post Ian? Your reply is ambiguous or could it be an insult? (I think!)

greenmossgiel Sun 20-May-12 12:33:16

Ian42, I find your posts objectionable, and I find you objectionable, rather pathetic and unlikeable. Enough said.

soop Sun 20-May-12 12:42:56

Ian42 if you really do want to be liked, than you have to be likeable. The people who empathise with others [share their joy and their pain] discover that in return, they too, attract consideration and support and kindness in equal measure.

soop Sun 20-May-12 12:45:04

PS...at school I was bullied...I was lonely, flat-footed and tubby. I left all that behind long ago. You can do the same, if you choose.

Ian42 Sun 20-May-12 13:20:50

I have left bullying and its pain behind me years ago, however ignoring and being rude to people is a kind of bullying, especially where you can remain anonymous. My real name is Ian the 42 is because I'm a Douglas Adams fan, and 42 was quite significant to his Hitchhikers series.

Jacey Sun 20-May-12 13:28:12

Yes Ian42 ... the answer to everything!!grin ...whatever the question ...thought the radio series was better than the tv series!!

However ...I think that GNHQ ought to give us a "wooden spoon" emocion ...I think some of us would get a lot of use from it!!

soop Sun 20-May-12 13:29:24

Ian42 Please may I assure you that I am not a bully. Members of GN aren't the type to enjoy being hurtful. If you really do wish to be heard, then express yourself in a less aggressive manner. Is there something in your life that really pleases you? Why not share those feeling with us? Surely it's worth a try? smile

Butternut Sun 20-May-12 13:32:14

Ian - Firstly, I mean this well.

Although you may feel you have left the bullying you received behind you, I feel it still impacts and has left you very angry and resentful. Perceived insults and feelings of being ignored shouts loudly of that. Making friends is not going to be easy until you address these issues.

Anagram Sun 20-May-12 13:32:15

I'm not quite sure what reaction you were looking for, Ian. Considering the fact that your poem disturbed one or two members, I think our subsequent light-hearted (for that's what they were) comments were understandable.

whenim64 Sun 20-May-12 13:39:10

I echo the above comments Ian. I'm not sure what you intended with that provocative verse, but to then query whether some posters have been bullies was unnecessary and insulting.

Let's have healthy debate - we don't all have to agree with one another, but we can keep it civil smile

Ian42 Sun 20-May-12 13:39:52

Here are a couple of my more lighthearted poems the first is full of depth, the second is self explanatory.

Perhaps Beneath the Sacred Chant.

Perhaps beneath the sacred chant of life,
a language symphony surrounds us brilliantly,
like an angel listening to a moment's breathlessness.

Explore the broken perfume and the devouring storm,
circle this sky in a gorgeous delicate embrace,
that lingers for an eternity like a moon,
swimming and soaring over an ocean of poetry.

The likes of men candidly seeking fluidity,
racing over each other around a world in turmoil,
looking for peace and never finding,
only a ticking clock binding man in unity.

Destruction awaits in timeless motioning,
for the day or night when people openly look,
why and wherefore, only one knowingly answers,
a questioning blunder of senselessness.

A lucid awakening of consciousness,
perhaps beneath the sacred chant of life,
a language symphony surrounds us brilliantly,
like an angel listening to a moment's breathlessness.

_________________________________________________________

Let us celebrate.

Let us celebrate with candy and champagne,
For the summer rains fly through windows,
Into musically rhythm symphonies pictured,
Momentarily flooding, yet languid in an eternity,
Of worship, beauty, blind secrets of young,
Delirious angel love may pierce beneath,
A porcelain passion, questioning a deep language,
Remembering the perfume of life is sacred,
So linger and listen long to the elaborate dreams of your heart.

soop Sun 20-May-12 13:42:51

Ian Both poems are beautiful smile

Annobel Sun 20-May-12 13:46:51

Your imagery is captivating, ian.

soop Sun 20-May-12 13:49:04

I happened across the following written by Rilke...

'Be - and yet know the great void where all things begin, the infinite source of your own most intense vibration so that, in this only time around, you may give it your perfect assent.'

We need to make the best of this thing called life. smile

...'only a ticking clock binding man in unity'.....I do like that.
