Snooze on and pamper yourself when. I hope you feel better soon. flowers P.s. It wasn't me.

Gally Fri 12-Oct-12 09:14:08

Nope, it wasn't me either - which is a miracle as I've usually got some kind of coldy bug on the go grin Just have a duvet-day when and take care of yourself - large slurp of whisky with lemon and honey will do the trick if taken hourly wink

whenim64 Fri 12-Oct-12 09:42:07

Hourly? I'll be sloshed by lunchtime! but if you insist grin

annodomini Fri 12-Oct-12 09:46:01

Must have bee me, when. I didn't think it was a computer virus! If it's any consolation, mine is getting better and I will have to go to the shops if I don't want to live on the contents of the freezer - mainly fish and broccoli, very healthy but a bit monotonous! Chin up and just relax with a good book. flowers

Ella46 Fri 12-Oct-12 09:49:47

when..it wasn't me, but I'm sure Anno must have driven past your house and dropped it off! grin

Awake on and off during the night, torrential rain and wind. DS camping in Kielder, looks like another quagmire weekend for him.
Sad memory day, MIL died on this day 31 years ago and it still hurts. She had arthritis and was given the wonder drug Opren, it killed her in 6 months, she was 58 sad

Today I am going to finish making a doll's cot. I am making it out of a strong cardboard box. I have covered it with quilted material and now I am putting lace round the edge of it. All I have to do then is make a duvet and pillow set.
I think DGD2 will love it when she comes to play.

Later this afternoon I will go for a swim.

Quiltinggran Fri 12-Oct-12 10:57:23

Nelliemoser Snap! Friday is my alendronic acid day too. I'm glad to take it if it prevents further breaks like the ones I've had this year but with the after effects of my broken wrist and broken shoulder still causing lots of pain, I find it hard not to be able to take the painkillers till later than usual. But I'm going to see a friend for lunch today so that'll be great - and driving myself again too! Freedom!
Glitabo the cot sounds lovely. Do you mind if I steal your idea for my DGD?

glitabo Fri 12-Oct-12 11:13:36

Quiltinggran I expect that with a name like yours the quilting will be great. I used ready quilted material. I hope you enjoy making it as much as I have.

Morning all! I slept a little better last night. A little breezy here today but nice and bright.
So far I've cleaned out the coffee machine! Realised I haven't any milk so drinking orange juice instead .
Trying to enthuse myself to do the laundry today instead of Sunday as I have guest from the twinning association staying. I've never met her. Know nothing about her or her likes or dislikes. I've never done this before and only agreed to it to help out a friend who is the organiser and got landed with an extra guest and no host!
I must be mad! I don't cook for myself let alone entertain. I'm really nervous and hoping it goes ok.
Probably wont have much time to post til she goes on Wednesday.
JENI!STOP WASTING TIME ON GN AND GO AND DO THE WASHING!

Maniac Fri 12-Oct-12 12:55:58

Marelli and when I also get slugs on kitchen floor- big ones.Never had them before this year and can't understand how they get in.
I used to come downstairs barefoot-. now make sure I've got slippers on .

Gally Fri 12-Oct-12 12:56:09

Harri sad
I drove very near Kielder on tuesday - such a difference, the sun was shining and it was a truly wonderful day - hope your DS isn't too soggy!

AlieOxon Fri 12-Oct-12 13:26:49

Well, I went to the CAB and had to wait 3/4 of an hour then saw a man with some hearing difficulty.....showed him the photos of next door garden.....talked, but not really any immediate help with my ivy problem from next door.

He gave me a sheet on Oxfordshire Mediation but I am not sure it exists any more as the phone no and the website don't seem to be there - I have emailed the address given and it hasn't come back yet!
Don't know if they could help with the communication problem anyway.

Thinking of seeing what Social Services have to say too. I think, as Bags said (this thread? another?) they may need help and won't ask.......

annodomini Fri 12-Oct-12 13:40:13

Didn't think they'd have many ideas for you, Alie and I don't think mediation would help much with neighbours who won't speak to you. If you approach Adult Social Services on the grounds that you are concerned about the couple who seem very reclusive, they should take you seriously. Good luck!

Bags Fri 12-Oct-12 13:53:53

At least you tried that avenue, alie, though I'm sorry it was no use. Good luck with Social Services. From what you've said, it does seem likely that your neighbours need some assistance.

jeni Fri 12-Oct-12 14:06:25

I had the ame problem but with my garage. I had to get it reroof end and repointed in the end. Cost me a fortune. The garage was all mine but the ivy was growing in his drive and he liked the look of it. When he moved out it got killed but the damage had been done.

Lilygran Fri 12-Oct-12 14:08:34

But remember, you're an OAP/senior citizen/elder as well and you might find yourself in the social services net. wink

annodomini Fri 12-Oct-12 14:15:45

It was my own ivy that caused the fascia over my garage door to rot and then managed to force its way into my porch! Persistent stuff!

Lilygran Fri 12-Oct-12 15:04:30

We had a Russian Vine - so pretty and grows so fast. It started to come into the attic after a while so my father cut it off at the roots. It continued to flourish with no roots for another year. DH had to go up a ladder with a bagging hook in the end.
