Anyone Else Up Yet ......... Vol. 2

Good morning

Just a note to say thankyou to all you lovely peeps

DH has had a temporary pacemaker fitted and the decision has been made to give him a permanent one as apparently he had at least 8 heart stopping moments after he had arrived in A&E. If you are not involved and just an onlooker they are very impressive as all sorts of bleeps and sirens go off and suddenly about 10 staff appear all doing stuff, I couldn't stand it though and disappeared into a room that they had provided for me - it is very frightening, especially when they bang his chest etc.
Nothing can been done at the moment as he has some sort of what the Dr's are decribing as a blood infection - I keep saying that he has been suffering from some sort of virus but no-one seems to hear me! There are too many white bood cells and these of course would make life difficult for the new pacemaker.
DH's elecrical works in his heart are wearing out - but what I can't understand is why does it only happen when he is ill? It would seem that once your heart rate goes below 40 you loose consiousness. DH knew nothing at all about it and it seems to me a very good way to go as he suffered no pain etc. but not for at least another 30 years of course!!

I went to bed at 8pm and slept until 5.30 am - so a good night's sleep. This is the first time in 45 years that I have been in the house completely on my own - even the dog is with my sister! It is odd, but not unpleasant I think.

Good morning, whitewave - it seems as if the hospital is on top of the problem now, but it must have been a terrifying ordeal for you.
I think Tony Blair had something similar happen to him.

I am off on a house exchange, 400 miles away, so I am leaving now and I hope you all have a nice day. I have put the daily joke up, but may not be able to log on every day for the next week - it depends how good the connection is in the apartment. I notice that quite a few people have now submitted jokes (and very good they are too), so keep them coming. We all need some humour these days.

Glad to hear you had a good night, ww, and that the hospital is doing its stuff with your DH. Keep resting as much as you can. I think observers of this kind of illness can get more exhausted than the patients. A silly comment perhaps, but I expect (hope) you know what I mean

bags you are right I asked him what he thought was happening at the time and he said that he thought he was having some sort of billious attack - he was sick once!

I'm off DD has just phoned and said she is coming over as she got to work - burst into tears and they sent her home so be nice to have a day together - it doesn't happen as everyone is so busy all the time.

white the companionship of your daughter will surely lift your spirits. How kind and thoughtful of her work colleagues to give her some precious free time.

whitewave sounds positive, but so exhausting for you, physically and emotionally. Having DD with you will boost you no end. xxx

Glad it is all OK now, must have been very frightening. Up since 4am here with a terrible storm, unplugging electrical stuff and mopping up from a leaky Velux.

Woke too early because of the hour. At 8.30 I go to take my neighbour to the hospital in Oxford....they want to do a biopsy, a bit worrying so I said I would go with her, she doesn't have a car and it's not easy to get there.
Another drizzly day from the look of it!

I woke at what I thought was 7.15, leapt out of bed only to discover that I had misread the clock and it was 6.15 . Went back to bed! Marielli, Elegran and I are meeting up with Notso today in Edinburgh - must have been the excitement that awoke me early!

Another day of anxiety - the hospital are going to do an examination of DH colon this week so now I am frantic that on top of everything else they are looking for cancer DH hasn't asked the question and I am not going to mention it to him as I don't want to worry him.

Dear oh dear I think I shall take the dog out in a minute to walk off this feeling of panic.

Had to get up at 5 to take OH to the station.Went back to bed hoping for a couple of hours more sleep but no luck.Am meeting an old friend in Lyme Regis later and we were hoping for a lovely coastal walk but it is so wet and foggy, there'll be nothing to see!.Have a good time Gally and co- am jealous.

The awful thing is that a month ago he appeared so well walking up to 8 miles a day with the dog doing his woodwork and generally poddling happily along. He doesn't drink or smoke and eats loads of veg and fruit a day.
