Hi I talked about our CP on this thread Style and Beauty

Well, it's nearly time, Thursday!!

We decided to do it all ourselves so have just finished baking lots of little pies, pasties and filo parcels to be served with boiled potatoes and salad, along with hummus, carrot salad, couscous, pesto pasta, Quorn Roast and bread and cheese.

Pudding is a vintage style tea party with cakes donated by the guests.

Then music in the evening with live acts from our very talented nephews and neices and bit of boogieing to music put together by our wonderful BiL.

We are going for post war Sunday School church hall vibe, with bunting, paper chains etc. Herbs and simple flowers for decoration.

Both DP and I have very stressed tummies as have had a really awful family situation to deal with in recent weeks.

I love the idea of the sweetie jars inthe previous threads.

Any other ideas? Must be thrifty (in keeping with theme not my tight fisted-ness, of course!!) grin

Remember to buy some party poppers they are really cheap in the £1 shops I think you get about 20 to a bag they get a party started, and pick some wild flowers if you live locally to the countryside they will really make the room fragrant and pretty. Best of luck flowers

Any thoughts about a celebration cake, Earthynanna? I'm not an expert on cakes, especially ones done on a budget, but maybe others will have some ideas.

I hope it all goes really well for you.

Your ideas seem just perfect, Earthynana - good home made food and family to enjoy the celebration - what could be better!
A recent wedding I attended had little cellophane bags tied with a ribbon at each guest's place. They contained a selection of Haribro sweets and were popular with everyone.
I hope you and your partner have a wonderful day and wish you both every happiness for the future.

Wishing you every happiness and hope your celebrations are fun for all! sunshine
Love the sound of your food!
Can you get macaroons? They are delicious.

Well, I haven't slept a wink!!
We have been SO busy, I wouldn't recommend the DIY route but hey ho!!
Lots of help yesterday to set up the room, it looks amazing.

It's a Shabby Chic version of a Church Hall Tea Party. The building is a converted chapel; luckily, it doesn't have that sad air or miasma that sometimes hovers in the air in these old buildings but feels full of life and potential. I would love to live there.

It's in an interesting part of town, which will be fun. The last wedding we went to was in a castle, grin

One of the rooms is a bridal dressmakers studio; I have had lots of fun persuading people that we are wearing two of her yummy creations. That would be a sight for sore eyes! One of the recommendations for planning CP is to check both the dresses can fit side-by-side down the aisle. wink

We have a mystery ingredient from the allotment in one of our savoury pastries, with the prize being dinner at our house.

I'll tell you about the Cake next time in case any lurkers see this thread, I want it to be a surprise.

We picked up the poppers and bubble wands and Pez for children.

I'm going back to bed now, need to look a little rested. hmm

Can I ask you to put your collective heads together fora break in the rain and no (predicted) 60 mile an hour winds at 3-4pm in South Wales today? grin

Thank you all so much, I think my feet are gently brushing the ground now. I have been up in the clouds since Thursday, it was the most fun day ever!!

We woke to driving rain and it went on and on......

I went to the allotment in the morning and DP posted a pic on FB of me in tatty waterproof and pink wellies, saying was ready grin

Then just as we were bathing we had a power cut for 20 mins!!

But all preparations went smoothly then, though I had to go without the perfect lippie which was hiding!

We arrived at the Registrars and fromthen on didn't stop grinning! The two women who greeted us and conducted the service were wonderful, kind, calm, funny and so supportive. We walked in to this Let's Do It

Our neice sang a song she had composed, our nephew gave two readings we had chosen for each other and a dear, dear friend had written a poem.

Can you imagine the floods of tears of joy?

I won't bore you except to say that as we said our vows the rain stopped and as we were declared Civil Partners the Sun shone through the large windows and lit up the room!! sunshine. We were able to go out into the lovely gardens and have photographs.

The BGd party was fab, lots of food, cake, music, dancing and a Feral Tribe of children smile

A white feather drifted down as we entered the room. On the next day a random CD appeared next to the PC and the first picture on it was of my darling, delightful mother who loved DP so much.

So big thanks to all of you lovely Gransnetters who sent your good wishes and love and helped, (with the Goddess!) to let the sun peep through.

(I'll try to put a pic up) EN xx
