Reading on another thread a few of us seem to have the same worry, how do we let our friends on Gransnet know of our demise, does anyone have any good ideas on how to get around this?

We'd like to know absent

Me too, I could be searching the whole of South Island for you!

"If I fell off the tree, I would be pleased that I had climbed it,
My achievement might be rated by which branch I had reached and how,
Whether by my own efforts, or with the support of others

There may be others on higher branches, but hopefully I will be content with my own branch, and carry no regrets for what might have been.

I just hope that as I climbed, the ones beneath were inspired by my actions, and not just laughing at the sight of my knickers"

Jacey - my grandson is getting married in St. Margaret's Bay - they live in Deal. My sister and I will be staying at the Whitecliffs Hotel, just round the corner from the venue, so I don't have to abstain from a few toasts!

That's not too far from me ...though not a piece of coastline that I'm too familiar with ...apart from the Warden of the Cinque ports residence.

Graetnan, Annobel and when , if you do meet in Marple in early August please do you have room for another Gransnetter.?I live only 4 miles away.

whenim64 Thu 05-Jul-12 08:44:41

Sewsilver that's good news. We travelled over to Marple to be nearer to where bags is staying this week, as we both live 10 miles or so from there. There may be one or two other Gransnetters who would like to meet next time, so we could find somewhere that suits us all.

Annobel Thu 05-Jul-12 08:54:23

Where do you live, Sewsilver? I'm in Poynton. Am in Marple on Thursdays (must get my skates on now!) at the CAB there.

Sewsilver Thu 05-Jul-12 16:17:30

When and Annobel, that would be great to meet. I live in New Mills so very near.Where has Bags been staying this week? Hope you weren't drowned Bags wherever it was.

Annobel Thu 05-Jul-12 16:24:15

New Mills - not far at all! A pity we didn't know sooner. Perhaps we can have a good get-together in August - September - East Cheshire, Greater Manchester, High Peak members? . Bags has been in Tintwhistle with DD.

whenim64 Thu 05-Jul-12 16:27:57

Sewsilver New Mills isn't far away at all. I occasionally go to the Fallow Deer in Chapel for lunch, or we pick somewhere nice in Disley like the Rams Head or the White Horse. I can feel our second meeting gathering momentum grin

Maybe we should share Facebook pages and then we'd be able to see the comments about how much we are missed!
I do find it weird though when people die and their FB pages go on without them for a long time. FB still occasionally suggesting them as a "friend".

AlieOxon Thu 05-Jul-12 17:28:26

I'm not dead! ...........I know I haven't been around much and not that happy when I am....just not much energy and too many medical appointments!
Up and down, need cheering up, sometimes ok.

However - I could do Didcot at the beginning of August....*Annobel*?

whenim64 Thu 05-Jul-12 17:33:29

Glad you're not dead Alie. Will you let us know if you're not dead again in due course? grin grin grin grin

jeni Thu 05-Jul-12 17:40:48

Alie tell us what's going on, can we help?

Annobel Thu 05-Jul-12 17:46:00

I have pm'd you AlieOxon. Would be great to meet you.

AlieOxon Thu 05-Jul-12 18:33:47

Answered!
This is cheering me up considerably.

Jeni , it's been mainly that this colitis just goes on and on and although it's a little better, it does get me down. And the diet does too!

Also I went to get an eye test and was told I have an incipient cataract....I knew there was something, that's why I went.
So....I need two pairs of expensive shock glasses!

And I still have 4 appointments in Oxford this month and one for my daughter who is really depressed about her injured back (for MRI scan). I have the transport......
...........etc etc etc feeling sorry for myself again...but would be good to meet, annobel (have I got it right this time?)

whenim64 Thu 05-Jul-12 18:38:50

Sympathies for all you're putting up with Alie. You need a fresh prescription for 6 x 10 minute doses of Gransnet every day for the next 2 weeks, them come back and we'll see if you need your prescription adjusting. Take care grin

AlieOxon Thu 05-Jul-12 18:42:52

So long as I don't have to make an appointment! Thanks when

Sewsilver Thu 05-Jul-12 18:43:57

Ooh good a meeting of gransnetters.First week August or sometime Sept be good for me.
* When *I often (well not that often) meet friends in Rams Head, don't know Fallow Deer. Can't get this bold business on here.
Alie sorry to hear you're having a tough time.
