Reading on another thread a few of us seem to have the same worry, how do we let our friends on Gransnet know of our demise, does anyone have any good ideas on how to get around this?

jeni Thu 05-Jul-12 18:44:03

Oh alie I do wish we could meet, I'm sure we would get on.
Do you ever come my way? I'm N Somerset on the coast, not far from the Gordano services on the M5.
In fact f any GNers are coming down past here, I would love to meet you!

I have a 4bedroomed house, but only three equipped, but would be happy to put up people overnight if times matched!

alie it will take time. Hold on in there and we are allways here if you're feeling down.[friendly hand ] emoticon.

GNHQ a friendly hand emoticon eg. Two clasped hands would be superb!

Brilliant idea, jeni.

jeni Thu 05-Jul-12 18:48:34

Which one?

Butternut Thu 05-Jul-12 18:51:25

Clasped hands.........smile

I'll be in the Cotswolds/Bath area end of October .....

jeni Thu 05-Jul-12 18:53:01

Not too far! Maniac is near mr. Perhaps we could meet?

Butternut Thu 05-Jul-12 19:02:46

I like the sound of that. Let's work on it. smile

For north west Gransnetters who would like to meet up I had a look at distances, and those of us around Stockport, New Mills, Wirral (any others?) we wouldn't have to travel more than about 20 miles to meet somewhere like Lymm or Knutsford.

whenim64 Thu 05-Jul-12 19:05:33

Alternatively, we could hire a minibus and fetch up at Jeni's! grin

jeni Thu 05-Jul-12 19:08:23

Fine! I have had parties here for 30 and more!
Can't fund that number on my own though!

Are we perhaps looking at a GN convention? Somewhere?

Sewsilver Thu 05-Jul-12 19:08:25

Or somewhere warm and sunny???

jeni Thu 05-Jul-12 19:54:51

That sounds marvellous. Would be fine with me, but cost for others?

jeni Thu 05-Jul-12 19:59:19

Just an idea! Could GNHQ get some sort of discount for a meeting. Birmingham area is central?

nelliedeane Thu 05-Jul-12 20:01:22

phoenix would that be the thong grin

AlieOxon Thu 05-Jul-12 20:06:28

Travelling even to Oxford is not easy....but don't let me put others off!

jeni Thu 05-Jul-12 20:10:08

Just thought alie do you have Skype?
In fact, I've just thoughtgrin how many of us do have Skype?

AlieOxon Thu 05-Jul-12 20:15:24

I know it exists but that's about it!

jeni Thu 05-Jul-12 20:29:11

This is the third time I've tried to say this!
Look at it!
Face to face conversation in real time vision and sound. Most modern computers seem to be equipped.

Look at it!

I hope I don't lose this again!

AlieOxon Thu 05-Jul-12 20:33:01

Actually I just did....thought it might be expensive but could be possible....up to 10 people?

jeni Thu 05-Jul-12 20:45:32

Mne is free with my BT broadband, definitely one to one. Dd reckons can do with other people on conference. Haven't worked out how to do that yet.

Annobel Thu 05-Jul-12 20:51:05

I think you can hear more than one caller on Skype, don't know how the visuals would work though!

jeni Thu 05-Jul-12 21:19:55

My dd reckons we could both see and talk to her brother at the same time.
bags husband is I think tech minded, or perhaps somebody else is?
Would someone, not me! Like to .
Actually dd has just rung and is going to email me instructions this weekend on how to conference Skype!

Get back to you all later on this

Anagram Thu 05-Jul-12 21:24:35

What do you mean, 'Look at it!' jeni?

I have BY broadband, but don't know anything about skype....confused

Anagram Thu 05-Jul-12 21:24:54

BT, I meant!

jeni Thu 05-Jul-12 21:33:02

Ok. Does your computer have a camera in it?

jeni Thu 05-Jul-12 21:43:24

I think I WILL SET UP A NEW THREAD ON THIS tomorrow

It will be titled

SKYPE

I hope, that GNHQ will cooperate in setting this up?
