Sorry but I just need a moan. Chest hurting all day stopping me doing stuff. Don't suggest the GP. He hasn't a clue. Am slightly asthmatic but peak flow is constant, if a little low. Every time I have to fight off a cold (seems to be every other week and sometimes I think I'm fighting off two at once) my chest hurts, sometimes for several days. Sigh. sad

Sorry I can't be of any help with advice, Bags but I do hope you feel better soon flowers

O.K bags
Time to stop messing about!
Get a referral for a Rheumatologist!

I have a friend with a very severe arthritic condition, and he now has injections.
Nothing by mouth.

They are working very well.
Chin up.

Sorry to hear you are not so well*bags*. flowers to cheer you up. Can't add any more useful words to what has already been said but am hoping you fell better very soon.

Can't offer any advice, bags, but I think you must be feeling quite fed-up and a bit poorly indeed to be telling us about it sad. Have you done anything that may have pulled a muscle in your chest, perhaps? I've done that now and again, and the pain is so awful I can't breathe in properly for a day or so.

Notsogrand Wed 11-Jul-12 20:13:07

Just a thought....my daughter had unexplained chest/diaphragm pains for a long time, had all the obvious checks but nothing showed. Was eventually diagnosed with Bornholms. I don't know if you fit the symptom profile for that though? Has it been mentioned by your GP? Jeni will know.

yogagran Wed 11-Jul-12 20:12:38

Oh bags, I'm so sorry that you're not feeling well. I feel very helpless and can't offer any suggestions but you're in my thoughts

Never heard of lanzowotsit. I have read the naproxen panic sheet. I don't use naprox v often. Asthma nurse said only four percent of asthmatics are badly affected by aspirin. I reckon I'm in the other 96%.

When I first started complaining to GP, about fifteen years ago in Oxford, I was sent for endoscopy, etc. All fine and dandy, apparently.

Seems I have to go and watch Arrietty. Back later. Thank you, peeps. smile

Ariadne Wed 11-Jul-12 19:45:03

Do you take Lanzoprazole? You probably do, with the NSAIDs you take. But I have had a tightness in the chest which an extra dose of Lanzoprazole sorted out..

I do understand about your GP; it must be awful to know you won't get any help there. xxx

jeni Wed 11-Jul-12 19:41:27

It's not it's a Nisaid as is aspirin. It makes the asthma worse, as do beta blockers which I take!
But sometimes you have to juggle!

johanna Wed 11-Jul-12 19:34:45

bags
Please re read the insert ( panic sheet ) of the Naproxen.
I don't think it is the drug of choice for asthmatics.

jeni Wed 11-Jul-12 19:26:10

I now this isn't the case here, but the worst pain I've ever had in that region was caused by a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. Don't think most GPs would think of referred pain from the diaphragm

jeni Wed 11-Jul-12 19:23:59

Good idea. It could? Be intra abdominal irritating the diaphragm!

JessM Wed 11-Jul-12 19:22:31

Bags just maybe you should ask your GP to get this chest looked at by a consultant. have you ever?

jeni Wed 11-Jul-12 19:21:45

Agreed!

flowerfriend Wed 11-Jul-12 19:20:42

As suggested earlier sending you a nag/nag. But quite understand the reluctance. Brother is a GP. Useless lot of fellers and felleresses. Best friend wouldn't go to one if she was dying - unless she broke her leg first.

Annika Wed 11-Jul-12 19:20:06

Hope you are feeling better Bags. flowers

Anagram Wed 11-Jul-12 19:19:03

OH was very short of breath and had chest pain (he'd also been cutting down hedges and changing the pond filter). The paramedics said pollen could have made his COPD worse, and we figured afterwards that the over-exertion had caused chest strain. Had you been doing anything strenuous, Bags?

Bags Wed 11-Jul-12 19:17:55

Don't be seriously worried, nag. (sweet of you though). I've been chugging along like this for years and years so it can't be serious, just a bloody pain!

Anagram Wed 11-Jul-12 19:16:43

I am seriously worried now, Bags! (Agree about ME BTW!)

Bags Wed 11-Jul-12 19:15:34

What would cause irritation of diaphragm? Asthma?

Bags Wed 11-Jul-12 19:14:39

That's what I think, jeni. ME is bullshit as far as I'm concerned.

Also hurts down the right side of sternum. Was diagnosed with costo-chondritis years ago, but it's never gone away. Besides, I had soreness there when I was only sixteen.

Bang on about Le Grand Meaulnes, GN! wink

jeni Wed 11-Jul-12 19:12:28

Can be coming from irritation of diaphragm then!

Greatnan Wed 11-Jul-12 19:11:55

Much sympathy, Bags, how rotten to feel so poorly.
When I first saw your post, I thought of Le Grand Meaulnes, by Alain-Fournier - one of my favourite novels - I bet it was in your mind!

jeni Wed 11-Jul-12 19:11:27

You ARE NOT an ME! I see loads of them! And with all you do ! NO WAY!
