Good re-dive from Tom. Wish the blasted cameraman did'nt follow him though. Time to give him space, he's obviously uptight.

Annobel Sat 11-Aug-12 20:49:25

Idiots that use flash! They do the same at Wimbledon. I wonder if someone has ever asked for a 'let' to be played because of flash distraction.

So pleased to see our local lad Tom Daley has won a Bronze Medal. Brilliant!!!!!

Annobel Sat 11-Aug-12 22:03:04

Good lad, Tom! Well done.

POGS Sat 11-Aug-12 22:18:57

Do you all think we can stay in third place on the medals table?

How fantastic would that be?

numberplease Sat 11-Aug-12 22:59:17

Well done to Tom Daley! And isn`t it nice to see a bronze medal winner so pleased with his medal? I`ve got to sick of seeing blokes sulking because all they wanted was gold. Any medal at the Olympics is something to be proud of.

MaggieP Sat 11-Aug-12 23:46:26

Tom is a delightful young man, sooo pleased for him tonight, what nerve wracking stuff though watching it all! Good luck to him with his A levels now and here's hoping he has fun and a good holiday with his family.
Also well done to all the other medallists today. What will we do next week when it's all over? flag grin

Get a bit of work done, instead of sitting down every few minutes to watch something in the Olympics!

Ariadne Sun 12-Aug-12 06:22:33

The poem, BTW, is called "Translating the British".

Won't it be odd, next week, not to have all these waves of excitement? Not to mention even more excuses for a little sit down!

JessM Sun 12-Aug-12 08:34:53

Withdrawal symptoms loom.

crimson Sun 12-Aug-12 10:29:02

Oh Jess, I can't believe it's coming to a close. It's as if it's been on forever; we were seeing things last night that happened a week ago and we couldn't believe it was only a week. Thorpy's been out again this past couple of days and, according to the beeb this morning it isn't just me that's in love with him..he's now an honorary Brit I think. I'll miss seeing Gabby Logan each night with 'The Magnificent Seven' and 'Big Ben'. Not to mention Spandau Ballet's 'Gold' which I now can't get out of my head. I'm so, so proud of being British and hope the world now sees us for what we are; fun loving, warm friendly people [also described by a friend from Southern Ireland who worked in London for a while when he was young as 'the most tolerant people on the planet']. I seem to be constantly blinking back tears, not only from watching things but thinking back to previous events. Even the sun has shone sunshine! Wonderful.
