I've always thought, mistakenly probably, that I looked quite young. Ok I am now 64, have white hair and a certain amount of wrinkles, but I am very young in thought and deed and I don't dress in crimplene or wear pearls and a twin-set.... However, I got on a Sydney bus yesterday and the driver asked if I had a concession card. OMG shock; you could have blown me down with a feather. I thought ' yes, I am old(er) and obviously he saw me as 'old' and now I've got to face up to it'. Delusions of everlasting youth blew out of the window and over Sydney Harbour Bridge. When and how did the 'age' thing hit you?

For the first time, I was recently asked in a cafe if I needed help with my tray!

I knew I was old when an African woman curtseyed to me during the greeting in church. Strangely she didn't do it before I had my hair permed! It was sort of nice though.

rojon no one has ever curtseyed to me, I don't know how I would reacct to that! It does sound sort of courteous.

Did the new perm make you look like the Queen, rojon?

I know I now feel pathetically grateful if someone helps me with my suitcase getting on to or off a train. It does happen sometimes. smile

I was really chuffed recently when a friend and I got on a crowded bus together and 2 people offered her a seat and not me. She is 6 weeks younger than me! Obviously I didn't say anything but felt good inside.
