Apart from choosing a new name, I've been slathering Germolene on insect bites - how lovely is that? My new name doesn't make one think of Germolene and insect bites! It's the time of year for these and I'm covered in large itchy bumps...
Hi everyone this week I have been run off my feet with getting things ready for my best friends wedding even though I thought I had sorted what i was going to wear I have had all sorts of outfits spread over the bedroom and doing "cat walk" shows for mr glamma trying to decide which I liked best have now decided on black and white dress (ankle length and black lacy balero with a black fasinator by the side of the plaited bun,but hey-ho there is still 2 hrs to go so there could be a change as yet,how come you never feel comfortable all dressed up ?? I shall be so pleased when it is all over and mr glamma has done his speech he has written all his notes on beer mats and has them safely in his top pocket he and the bridegroom used to spend many a happy hour testing the local refreshments when we lived in Spain hense the beer mats. Now I have managed to get a picture up on my profile (ha-ha) I will make sure some pic's go on taken at the wedding.Lovely to see you back in action soop
When I went on holiday I had three rooms decorated; kitchen, bathroom and utility room. Yesterday I bought lots of stuff like new shower curtains etc but also bought several kilner jars [how cheap are they, and I find them beautiful to look at]. So, today I'm rearranging my larder and putting things in the jars [pretty coloured pasta etc]. Given that I hate cooking and do as little as possible I have to admit to my kitchen is all style and no substance. In my utility room I had a new coat rail thingy put up; it's not for coats but mops and brooms but it's so nice I'm putting the mops in the garage, but I have bought one of those old fashioned mops to put on it; would never use it as I think they're not very hygenic but it looks great. Bags; I'm going to check out that place you told me about as I think there maybe things there that would look good on it; again not with any intention of using them! I've even put all the old family buttons in a kilner jar and they look lovely [they're next to the rag rug maker]. Also bought some michaelmas daisies to put in the garden; I've always loved them..we used to grow them in the school garden. Having a total nostalgiafest .
Just a thing for putting coats on, y'know wood with hooks attached. This one is white distressed wood with metal hooks. The one I had before looked horrible so I bought this one from a shop in Berwick [my favourite shop in the world]. Thankfully when I got home a guy was fitting a kitchen in the house across the road so a asked him if, when he'd finished doing that he could do a few off jobs for me that weren't worth calling a joiner out specifically to do..so he put my coat hook thing up and sorted out a few door handles that I'd made a botched job of. The shop's called Danish Design but they've got a website called Driftliving. We went there last year but then I forgot about it till we drove past it on the way back from shopping. It's a small shop crammed full of wonderful delights; even the ceiling is full of mobiles like Moomin mobiles. I wanted to buy EVERYTHING! Have youever been to Barter Books at Alnwick? They've now opened up a cafe/restaurant in the old waiting rooms. The 'Keep Calm and Carry On' poster was discovered there.
I am glad it went well! I took Anno to Annecy and we had lunch in the old town and then took a cruise right down the lake. Not a gendarme in sight. Chamonix yesterday, and back the long way through Martigny and Abondance. The weather has been wonderful every day and I am hopeful it will last for the next two days.
Well actually it was Thrilling Thursday and I was at the Paralympics with my DDs and now I'm near a computer for the first time in four weeks! The Paralympics' evening was so amazing that I haven't the adjectives to use to tell you all . Atmosphere, friendliness, athletes, stadium................just wonderful. Now must catch up on what's been going on on GN!!
Having a wonderful reunion weekend in Chichester. Spent today in Arundel, at the castle with a private tour, the lunch, then the gardens, then a little lie down, the dinner at the hotel.... goodnight....xx
Been celebrating GD's birthday with all the family. We bought Playmobil and so did everyone else, what fun there were cowboys, princesses, knights and a camper van. These toys are really great and keep the children happy for hours.
